I wasnt trying to belittle you, i apologise if it seemed that way, just annoys me when i hear comments like he has had one good game in two seasons when it clearly isnt the case.

| Quote: pyeman "Just been reading casforum, and someone on there put 'I also think that some people will refuse to ever acknowledge a decent performance from Sherwin.''"
That was me.
I am not too blind to see that Sherwin hasn't been the greatest signing of all time. Whatever we're paying him, he just hasn't played enough games for us and when he has played he hasn't always bossed games in a manner you would hope he would, which may or may not simply be a result of injuries taking their toll on a player in the latter stages of his career.
I certainly don't think you can blame him for being injured and I don't think you can blame him for not walking away from his contract. I wouldn't walk away from the money and as I have said before I don't think anyone else would. Fans are frustrated by the fact that he's been far too prone to injury, he's not played nearly as often as you'd hope and when you read/hear about rumours of his wages it's no wonder that fans react negatively but I think there are a lot of fans who will just never give him a break.
Some fans will always be critical of him and his time at Cas and I genuinely don't think a lot of people will ever agree that he's performed well in a game.
It would be nice for him to finish his career (I assume he may well retire at the end of the season) with a flourish and I'd love to see him do it and perhaps win a few fans over in the process.

| Quote: pyeman "Thats the differance though a scrum half has to kick over and over again through a match, and if he does a bad one it gets remembered more than 5 good kicks, other players might put in a good kick in occasionaly but know one blames them or remembers when they put a bad one in, only the good ones.'"
That really doesn't make sense, I expect a scrum half to be good at kicking, passing, setting plays up etc....
I don't expect a 6 foot 4 winger to posess or practice/train for the same skills as a scrum half..therefore, I would say the kick by Dixon was better....surely thats a reasonable think to say?

And if your the purist analyst you think you are who was responsible for 2 of there tries for a poor atamped takle and being out of posision for the other!!!!!'"
No need to fly of the handle, maybe I missunderstood your comment, you semed to be saying he earned too much money, my point being none of us have any idea how much money he earns.
If your point was that he's not worth any money regardless of what his actual wages are, thats your opinion and you're entitled to it.
Personaly I am a fan of Sherwins, always have been. Yes he doesnt take the line on very often, and he's missed a lot of games through injury, and yes so far this season we've only seen one good game out of him. But having said all of that I would still rather have a fit Sherwin than Danny Brough. Sherwin has one of the best short kicking games of any of the half backs we've had in recent years. When we have people expertly timing their runs onto the end of these kicks like Goldy did on Saturday, or in fact Luke Dorn was doing a few years ago, it is by far our most potent attacking weapon.
As has been mentioned before, hopefully the start of a run of form for Shifty, who is still held in very high regard in the NRL I believe. Hopefully in 2 weeks time against Quins we will see more of the same, a good game in store I think.

| Sherwin could be a fantastic player if he played like that all the time. It's just a shame that's he's inconsistent, if he put out a performance like that every week he'd be the fan favourite. People are being cynical due to him not being able to back it up every week.

| I've been quite critical of McGoldrick in the past but he has really put his hand up recently. He looks threatening when running to the line, and is consistently challenging defenders. I wish someone who get up his backside and look for the offload, because it's on.
I reckon Sherwin's contribution is evident in the stats on Sunday. Look at the number of drop outs we forced. He was putting bombs up with pin-point accuracy, dropping them just in front of the line.
More of the same at Quins please.

Totally agree and I'm not sure he did muck up the kick - looked as though an attacker got a boot to the ball just as he went down for it. The guy's only a back-up winger and on that basis (and on value for money) I would say he's doing his job better than almost everyone else in the squad.

Yeah, the Cats player kicked the ball against him and then he regathered and I thought a knock on was harsh but it was one of those decisions that will go our way and even itself out some other time.
Mike Wainwright deserves all the credit in the world IMO. I tire of saying that "he'll never be the best, but..." because we say this every week and he very rarely lets us down. His workrate is second to none at Cas.

Maybe sherwins after a new 1yr contract or something, that maybe why he has kicked himself into gear.Thought sherwin played as good as he has been in a cas shirt but his defence is not the best in my opinion.

I can't imagine Sherwin or Cas will realistically be considering another year. I know there was talk of him wanting to earn another deal near the start of the season but I reckon it's got to be in everyone's interest for him to retire at the end of the season.

yeah think we need to be looking at a scrum half now who can build with chase, someone simular age or around 26,27 mark.getting a good half back partnership in place will only benefitthe club and the whole team.not sure who is avalible but must be our main position to fill.
