Quote: MrPhilb "Well I was there and I know there was absolutely no homophobic chanting at Mr Thomas, you really need to stop trying to sweep this under the carpet and absolve the club of all blame and you certainly need to stop trying to blame others.

The club have been punished for their faillings in dealing with the incident and their apparent lack of action taken during and after the incident.'"

Just because you did'nt hear anything mrphib doesn't mean it didnt happen.
Not saying anything did happen at CP like.
The only people who heard the 15/20 cas fans were the fans stood around them 15/20 chanting.

The commissionaire in the stand heard nothing.....the fans in the princess street stand heard nothing.....the fans at the railway end heard nothing. Even some in the WRE heard nothing.

Makes you wonder dont it how the hell ''cry baby'' managed to hear it when he was down the other end of the field playing in an intensive game when all consentration would normally be on the game and not on the chanting. Imo.

Nice undermining of the club's case there.

Just for clarity: the crime is not the fault of the victim, but of those who committed the crime.

I wouldn't be surprised if he just said he suffered homophobic abuse and it just happened to stick and whoever had them at home for his first away game would have been put through the same, he's a shameless self publicist and if Cas had better DVD editors he would have never known. Take the moaning git to court and sue him for everything he has because it isn't the clubs fault at all, with how long the chanting went on (15 seconds according the lawyers) and the fact nobody heard it hardly means how could the stewards have done anything at all?

From the club's statement: our case is we knew it was happening, we knew it was unacceptable, and we took relevant and reasonable steps.

I think some people cannot grasp what the real problem is. It doesn't matter whether or not G.T. heard any abusive chanting, the fact is many people in the crowd did hear it and quite probably some of those people were gay and more than likely they would be offended by the remarks.

We have moved on from the years gone by. In the 21st Century, homophobic abuse is classed as a "Hate Crime", anyone who heard the abuse and said or did nothing about is complicit in the whole sad episode.

Yeah if you define 20-30 people as "many". I wouldn't though.

Plus, what about the 5000 or so who had no idea of the chants until after the game (ref included). Are they complicit with this whole sad episode too?

So, you think that only 20-30 people heard something? icon_rolleyes.gif

As to your second sentence, read my post again.

There were 20-30 involved with the chanting, but Cas were attacking the railway end in the 2nd half, thus the majority of home fans (myself included) were stood at the railway end, leaving very few in the Wheldon End (where the chants were from). But you'd know that as I'm sure you were at the game, yeah?

I think it's harsh to blame fans who may of heard it, what would you like them to do? Personally, I'd of merely just shouted "shut up" in no uncertain terms & carried on watching what I'd paid to watch.

I heard every word, i just looked at my daughter and shook my head, that was for the first chant. I did nothing else apart from watch the game. Does that make me as bad as the chanters i dont think so.

The second chant was more light hearted, i just smiled to myself when i heard it.

I continued to watch the game and forget totaly about the 2 chants, they ment nothing to me it was just banter as far as i was concerned.

I didn't realise it was illegal to say such things, maybe i'm naive......can someone tell me is it such an offence people can go to prison for it.

lol if you think the two chants are similar in law you really do need help in understanding the ongoing situation.
Ignorance is not much of a defence, but as you say we will see.
Perhaps the club all the way up from fan to board thinks the same?Hence the problemo.

If you actually put your brain in gear and read what the fine was for, it was for FAILING TO STOP THE CHANTS, just like Leeds did today, they didn't stop the chanting, therefore in the same boat.
