30462.jpg [b:3oz7jfnu]Wigan Warriors coach Shaun Wane told BBC Radio Manchester:
"Some people within the club [Castleford] have come out with comments saying we're beatable and it's a great game for them and they're very confident.
Many of the comments I've heard have been bordering on disrespectful.
They can be as confident as they want, but they're going to get a tough game this weekend and we'll be trying our best to make sure they don't get that win.
We've played in some big games over these last few years and they've not played in as many, if any, so to be that confident is very risky for them.
They come here with confidence because they've scored a lot of points and beaten us at home, but I wouldn't be overconfident if I was them."
[u:3oz7jfnu]Incidentally Wane's mob got stuffed 16 - 4[/u:3oz7jfnu] [/b:3oz7jfnu]:30462.jpg |

But of course these players would have been far better off signing for Cas or Wakey.

You might just have a point with Ablett but IIRC the rest progressed pretty quickly to the first team squad and would never have faced the dilemna of waiting around on the remotest off-chance of regular SL football. The likes of Rayner and Carvell probably think moving on worked out ok.

Yes they all missed out on hounours. I doubt they wouldn't swap what they have now for what they could have had with a bit of patience.
Infact, it could also be argued, that without that first option of joining the Leeds academy that they may never have got to where they are today.
How is Ablett any different to Burgess, Smith, and Hall anyway?

| But then again, hadn't Cas turned down Burrow [he was in our academy], then it could be argued he wouldn't have got where he was today without being at Cas.

Rob Burrow was never ever interested in signing for Cas. He was brought up as a Leeds supporter and has remained one ever since. It is a complete fallacy that Cas turned him down - they did not - they were never in the equation.

46042.jpg [quote="Bonzo":23qz4bj5]Corrected.
Incidentally, an exclamation mark ends a sentence and does not require a full stop. The first letter of the next word begins a new sentence and should therefore be capitalised. [i:23qz4bj5]Who needs flankers[/i:23qz4bj5]' grammar was actually correct.
HTH.

And they are being followed by.... No-one! I think you missed the point. If you want 1st team rugby, i'd rather be at Cas or Wakey and get a shot than be shipped out to a championship side never to return.

Then you are pretty stupid, as Leeds have obviously proven over the last 5 years that if you are good enough to make the grade, you will make the grade, and win honours.
How many other first teams have as many academy produced players as Leeds have in their first team?
Answer is none, so you are arguing over nothing. Over a stupid statement that someone made to say you are better off in Cas or Wakey academy than Leeds if you want to play first team rugby.

| What it shows is that prior to this group coming through you weren't winning things and your squad wasn't that strong so they were able to break into the team. Now you have a strong team very few of the academy squad have made the move up and are having to look elsewhere for 1st team rugby.

Exactley, most of those mentioned were blooded under powell and although they didnt do much under powell he set leeds up for future years. I think potter is trying to do the same thing at saints, lets see if it works as well.

in one respect your quite correct, but the rhinos now have a very young and very successful side that are consistantly winning trophies,
in regards to the next junior that makes it into the starting side for us,which position urgently needs strengthening in your opinion?
imo these players are already to step into the side when the present incumbents move on or retire:
ben jones bishop for brent webb
paul mcshane for danny buderus
kallum watkins for keith senior
jodie broughton if he is re-signed for scott donald
all these players were also produced through our famous junior set up!
