Quote: Bonzo "He'd might miss 30-40 per game too! McGoldrick seems to fit into the attacking line better from fullback and can offer quite a few options; but our defence seems more organised with Owen in that position. I'm not sure TM will ever be able to settle on the best place to play Ryan.

Can't see Westy being too happy in the second row either - I heard he hates playing there.'"

You are spot on about Owen, we seem more assured when he's playing fullback, and he can offer plenty in attack.

Goldy at his best is devastating in attack, i'm not one of his knockers, he just needs to be able to play in one position for a length of time. He started in at least 3 vastly different positions last year. That can't be any good for the player himself.

WHEN Sherwin gets injured this year, i'd like to see us put another halfback in his place. This would take a lot of pressure off Goldy, because he's certainly no 6 or 7

T.M rates him highly and he picks the team icon_rolleyes.gif

I will give him some credit though, Mcgoldrick doesnt ever seem to pick up injuries,or if he does plays regardless.

Discipline a big problem still, he is a loose cannon, one we cant really afford to have in S.L these days

Has anyone else heard the rumour linking McGoldrick with Crusaders?

Nosey Parker mentioned it, saying " RM has been linked to the Crusaders and Tigers' CEO Richard Wright has reported this fact to the board"

I've also seen this mentioned on another board which seemed to have a different source.

It seems like a strange one at this stage of pre-season, and I doubt there is anything in it, but was surprised not to see mention of it here.

I don't think you could call it a no brainer. Evans certainly strengthens our defence out wide, more so I dare say than McGoldrick would.

McGoldrick has served us well over the last few years. Never done anything outstanding in my eyes, but has certainly been valuable when it came to filling in the HB role. Furthermore, as someone mentioned earlier, other than discipinaries, he has been one of our most consistent in terms of appearences.
Saying that though, I think we can cover the centres well enough without him, and I don't think he offers anything more than what we already have in that area. As for the Half back cover when Sherwin gets injured; I'd like to see Brierly given a chance this year if he is everything people are bigging him up to be. For full back; Owen, no question about it.

My view on the whole thing is, if someone wants him, snatch their hand off. From a business point of view lets get some money for him.
If this Crusader rumour turns out to be nonsense then keep McGoldrick as a squad player, as his versatility makes him usedul. I really think he needs to start showing something extra to make the first 13 week in week out though.

IF RM goes to Crusaders this would free up a quota spot and seeing as you need a prop do you think Cas would make a move for Stosic?? Would be a great move in my opinion for you guys he's a very good prop with a great engine.

Would love to see stosic down the lane, but if it happens it will be because he sorts a passport out, mcgoldrick isnt leaving, this is something like the 50th rumour i've heard that he is leaving and they never come true.

Even if he did i think martin would join the cas ranks.
