| Just re-reading it, it can be contrived either way. I interpreted it that way but can so easily be conceived the other way.
Ah well, whatever happens, happens.

| We're at a point where if we are to have any hope of getting a franchise, we need very real progress every single week and every single month. Certain Wakey fans may be eager to jump on any non-news from Cas (whilst ignoring the fact that they are still a long, long way from getting their own new stadium built), but the fact of the matter is that we are years behind schedule, and now we need planning permission submitted asap, and need the stadium build under way before submitting our franchise application.
The franchise applications go in around January, we are now over a quarter of the way through 2010. I don't know how long architectural plans take to draw or how long planning permission takes to be granted, but I would suppose these things take a least six months - we have eight months to pour concrete into the ground. That means we need to get this process happening this month at the latest to have any vague prayer of the build commencing.
I have always taken this project with a pinch of salt, and have always said I'll believe it when I see it, but as the club have seemingly chosen this year as a gap year on the field, the only hope of us retaining our SL place is to have the facilities of a SL club. We've already told the RFL we'll be in the ground before 2012, we cannot make promises again, we need actual action.
I don't climb on the slag TM bandwagon that is hurtling through the Tigers at the moment, but our club's future relies on this project coming to fruition, and I am truly scared that, regardless of the effort the club clearly is putting into the project (albeit years too late), they have not got the ability to pull through and secure the club's long-term future.

Not sure whether to take that as criticism or as a compliment

| Great post Gazemous - you have perfectly encapsulated my own fears for our own Wakefield project. With the best will in the world, and despite the bullishness of many of my fellow Wakefield fans, there simply does not appear to be time to get this build underway before franchise application time. Do you think the RFL will take us at our word again? I wouldn't if I were in their position. I really hope we both hear something positive and concrete soon 'cos I'm sick of hearing the aspirational guff.

| I have absolutely no idea where either the Cas stadium or where the Wakefield stadium is in terms of development.
It is imposible to read the threads as they are domintaed by pessimists, optimists or realists who have no idea what is going on because they cannot interpret the cryptic messages from the clubs.
What i do know is that in 4 weeks time after the election there are going to be the most savage cuts in public services and COUNCIL funding that the country has ever seen.
ANY development relying on council funding or even private funding is knackered . The Wakey council is not going to ba able to invest money in a ground when they are laying off Social workers, teachers and coppers.
It would be political suicide for the council to give money to Cas or wakey whilst sacking staff.
There needs to be a campaign for a shared ground before it is too late. Or one or both of you will go bust ( lose a franchise). Crusaders are safe after moving to Wrexham.
Wake up and small the coffee you lot and get used to ground sharing and then 3 years after that who knows.

If you have "no idea" then why comment.....it just makes you look stupid!!
One or both grounds may not happen.......but just for the record, neither proposal has asked for, nor needs any public money.

Wakefield council aren't part funding either stadium. Indeed, they are putting no money into either project.

have no idea where they are RE PLANNING as all the comments made by both clubs and are pretty cryptic.
You cannot hide behind the money from the council arguement as both the grounds to some extent will rely on some public money whether that is related to infrastructure, sharing joint facilities or advance payments for feasability studies.
Neither club has the £10 to £20m ready cash to invest. they are relying on Private capital ( not much around and no one will invest whilst there are uncertainties about the economy whether that is in houses or hotels or leisure facilities). Even if a private investor came forward how long would it take to pay the money back.
Anyway that is all i am going to post on it but IMHO a ground share is the only way to go now. 3 years ago the situation was different but not at the minute and will be unlikely for the next 3 years.
