I agree, i think its quite embarrassing but if the club think they can make money out of it then good luck to them

I think it's a great idea. I've still got two gross of "Cas 18- 12 Giants" tea towels to shift.

Its amusing to me as a wakey fan too but did you not read my post.

Its a local derby and one of the games both sets of fans look for and enjoy getting the win from.

Glover is a businessman and if he can get £10 for every mug sold and shift a few hundred to fans who enjoyed the derby and want a memoir then he has done good business.

still don't get this cup final thing..really dont

Sorry but I don't care.

Yes, he's playing off the derby factor but I could understand had it been a massive result, say, like an 86-0?

It wasn't. It was a narrow victory and all it's done is made us look a bigger side and Wakefield's season hinges on beating us. Like I said, if victories were that important then surely beating Hull FC would be a more significant result than beating us, regardless of the table.

The significant part wasn't in the margin but the method of the win.

To come back from 20 points down with around a quarter of a match left shows character and spirit and is no small feat against any Sl club especially a derby game. This is what the marketing team are trying to play on.

You reference hull but a victory over hull although pleasing is not as sweet as a victory over one of your long term rival teams who have had a positive start. Its all to do with trying to Market products as best you can and try and bring more money into the club.

If you really think the club (which includes the players) saw that game as a cup final then I dont think you do the players themselves any justice. Perhaps your trying to cover over your concerns you have with regards to your own team being opened up like butter in the last quarter by convincing yourself that it was our "cup final", if so fine but I don't buy into your line which gets banded about far too flippantly in rl nowadays.

Not buying it still mate.

It seems like petty points scoring to me and it still smacks of us being your cup final. We didn't start selling off mugs of our 40-20 victory and I highly doubt we'd have done it had we beat you on Good Friday.

As or my concern regarding my side, yes we collapsed but it was still aided by the fact we got zilch from the man in the middle and my opinion will not change on that matter. The 8-2 penalty count in your favour is a reflection of that. I find it hard to believe that Wakefield were angelic in the second forty, getting back onside, being square etc.

But clearly we were, otherwise Mr Child would have penalised us?

As Bonzo says, you were allowed to slow the game down - that's probably why. Although, I did note several times when your players failed to get back the ten.

The penalty at the scrum was one of the most ridiculous ones I've seen, to be honest as well.

Aye, that could be the case; Cas were perfect little angels and Wakey, aided and abetted by Mr Child, cheated their way through 80 mins of rugby.

Alternatively, your fans and players thought they could just turn up and bag the points and having racked up a few in the first half, got out-played and out-enthused in the second?

Now you're twisting what I said.

I did categorically state earlier in the thread and about three comments back that we collapsed and we made mistakes (dropped balls, missed tackles).

But I do find it hard to believe that one side was consistently bad and the other was near perfect, that's my opinion. Based on where I was stood, my belief is that several transgressions that should have been penalised were missed and I suppose that could be argued in any game for any side. Not just that, there were errors such as a blatant drop out - seen by everyone in the Princess St/WRE - given as a tap on the twenty with about 30 seconds remaining. Just little things missed and these all contribute in the grand scheme of things to the change in the tide that Wakefield lifted off the back of and got a roll on.

icon_lol.gif How was Wakey allowed to slow the game down? Wakefield managed to slow your attack down because they started to win the forward battle and all the collisions in the 2nd half. Winning the collision is creating the platform of a successful performance. From that platform Wakefield was able to control the tempo and play at too high a leval for Cas to cope with, the conclusion...4 tries in less than 20! Stop making excuses for your forwards lack of bottle, you got dominated by a younger up and coming pack. Deal with it!

The team that wins the collision/forward battle and is on the front foot is more likely to win a penalty, it's not that hard to work out. Nothing sinister from Mr Childs. You need to take them Black and amber glasses off, you might appreciate your rugby a bit more.
