So something that happened a couple of weeks ago is also the excuse for the poor defence against Salford? Or the one dimensional attack that's been the same since the first game on boxing day?

Nearly managed it with a one footed Gronk and Welker bottling it
Ah well, still more fun than watching the dross Cas put out.

| Quote: Gronk! "Donlan was a full back, why isn't he spending time with Owen? If he is he's doing something wrong.
Millward had the team all pre-season and the team looks lost, from the first game they've had no idea at all with ball in hand and the defence is still a shambles when he said he'd spent all off-season fixing it!'"
How good a full back was Donlan?
Just like us you need time to get it together

| Just think tonights scores highlights the poor state of the game in this country and the gulf between the hav's and havnots.
I dread to think the scores that will be racked up in the summer months if we are geting these after half a dozen rounds.
Shudds could have doubled the score against us last week and were guilty of taking their foot off the gas and the same could be said tonight.
The games in a mess.

| Remember the owd coaching term " tha cont run bowt legs " Cas need to go back to basics and like many teams need to get out of this fixation of attacking the ball on defence .
Three man tackles one round legs one covering ball and one finishing off i know its old school but its bloody effective if executed.
The cas mis tackles on one on one was a major factor tonight .
On a positive note I thought Jimmy Grehan had a big game on defence only had him down for one missed tackle and that was at the end of the game . I know i,m biased but i thought he showed up well on defence .

| It's quite embarrassing to see a fan start off a whinge thread about the referee, who I thought had a solid game apart from one incident (how did he not give a penalty when the ball was passed off the floor, the TJ was right next to him!).
The whinge then descends into a bitch fest about the coaching staff, who are led by a man who has only just returned to the country after a huge bereavement. Now if you don't think that will have affected Cas' preparations then you might as well not go and watch them because you definitely aren't 'supporting' your club. I think right now they need your support more than ever to get through this difficult patch they're in. Millward's hardly been there 4 months. It wil take time for him to get the team to play the way he wants, not to mention you have a lot of deadwood in the team that needs cutting still (McGoldrick needs to go).
Show some support to your team. They really need it.

| I'm with Wellsy on this and have to disagree with Gronk that the defence looked poor right from the 1st game against Salford.
Most people who went to Salford or watched it on tv will have come away quite happy with the defence that to my recollection seemed pretty solid in that game.
The following week whilst most people, myself included, saw the loss to Bradford as a missed opportunity I thought it was more down to poor options in attack than woeful defending. Bradford's subsequent away results have shown they're not a bad side either.
Then we went to Catalans and very nearly beat a side that many consider will be pushing for a top 4 finish.
So I'd say things looked reasonably ok prior to Millward hearing the tragic news and handing over the reins for a few weeks.
I'm pretty sure things will improve now Millwards back but it may take some time....

| i was debating this during the match and i agree the refereeing is at an all time low pass off the floor head highs given that arent head high and clear head shots not given the 3 or 4 pens on giants line, well shoot me down if u wish, but the day i see all feet behind the line at a ptb near the line ill buy a dark side season pass you could have given off side against both teams every time week in week out its happening now. Rovers home game vs widnes paea grounded the ball having not heard held penalty 1st set 2nd half off load after call go back play the ball. Most games it matters not as the gulf between top and bottom is worsening (a whole other problem) but poor refereeing will decide crucial games rant over nrl is calling me

| FWIW as a Giants fan I thought Ganson was abysmal for us too.
How on earth he didnt go to the screen for your try is beyond me when it was a blatant dropped ball...and that was after he was making up reasons to give Cas a penalty.

| code 13 sums it up when fans from both sides think it was a poor ref id say the ref was poor and yes go to screen to check a restart from a kick dead but just wave the try in

Looks like they need more time than us. Thought we are poor but that took the biscuit last night.

| I just thought Huddersfield were a very good side who looked superfit. There was a time when you had them under the pressure and I'm not sure they defended well when they were, but in attack they were superb.
It was their fitness that struck me, and I wonder whether Millward is off the pace fitness-wise. It's a few years since he has been in super league, and the top teams look extremely well-conditioned. The last decent team he coached was already a top side and so he wasn't playing catch up. They just looked so much bigger and stronger and faster.

| Chase must be delighted that he signed that contract extension. I actually feel quite sorry for him wasting his career away surrounded by that team. It was only 2 years ago that you were a good side that played some excellent RL.

| Your not sure giants defended well under pressure? How many back to back sets did they defend on the line before cas scored. How many missed tackles did the giants rack up ALL GAME? -ONE. You clearly don't know good defence when it's in front of you. One missed tackle.
