Indeed, he made errors but you would expect any half to make some errors at some point. It seems like that any error made by Rangi is dropped on like a ton of bricks; had someone English, i.e. Sinfield done exactly the same I bet the swathes of criticism wouldn't half be as bad.

But equally I'm not letting the fact he's from New Zealand taint my judgement by pretending that there's a whole host of English quality halves out there that's he's preventing playing. Fact is, he's a very talented player, justifiably chosen by his PEERS to win Man of Steel because he's such an instrumental, exciting player.

Correct: it reads "Well done Rangi Chase". That perhaps indicates that it was a thread for Castleford fans, on a Castleford forum to congratulate Rangi.

Not for all and sundy to derail a thread by slating him, try and justify their arguments as to why Chase shouldn't be selected. I believe there are your own respective forums, the VT or the International forum for that.

As for singling him out, this thread is an irrelevance in the grand scheme of things. If this thread wasn't here, you'd all still be singling him out whilst ignoring the contributions of others even if you do try and balance it up by writing three paras on how Chase was poor then throwing in a sentence with "FWIW, so-and-so was poor too." The day you start a thread stating that XYZ was poor, this might make it more believable.

A few Cas fans repeating an increasingly desperate 'well done' message doesn't take away from the fact that many people are baffled by his England selection and disappointed with his performances.

I don’t know why everyone is surprised Chase produced such a stinker. If you look at his form closely you will see his performance against the better teams, he was generally a no show. Chase is a player that needs space to play in, if his team are not on the front foot he is basically incapacitated. Yes he does look good when going forward but you need someone that can produce that big play when your on the back foot. Just what did crapmanara expect from him against the best players in the world? To say he’s a full time England coach I really don’t think he’s done with his time, certainly not his homework!

I don't know why you feel you can spout such uninformed claptrap on here when you don't see enough of the player to make that judgement. You have absolutely no idea what you're talking about.

(a) glad to see you invest in CT by buying the DVDs of all non-televised Cas games so you can analyse our player performance
(b) Rangi's game has flaws but IMO nobody requires less space than him to make something happen
(c) Cas spent most of last season on the back foot but (or perhaps as a result) he managed to excel in enough games to convince fellow professionals that he was the Man of Steel.
