My Bad Vasty.
I should have put part funded it.
The council would be stupid not to get a running track, state of the art gym and new sports /swimming pool for half the building price and at half the running costs, all they need to do is help fund a part of it.
All this and the NEW tech thats open in Glasshoughton and where some of the Thornes park students will be moving to anyways.

Yes of course, even at Castleford's RELATIVELY ADVANCED STAGE Glasshoughton could still ultimately fail.

for me the translation sounded like this.
I wish we would of got our butt in gear sooner as now with the economy the baba has hit the fan , to make matters worse them barstewards down the road are announcing plans to build a stadium right on our f'ing boundary. i wondered why wakey hardly battered an eyelid when the park idea was turned down . we cannot share as both sets of fans are bigots and have many issues although it could work as we do have a jack Fulton's in wakey . TBH i blame brad Davies ever since he muttered those fatal words and sculthorpe's pit bull crapped on the field we always end up making an ass of ourselves and make Wakefield look the better option.
just my interpretation.
My translation
Oh wakey have announced that there going to build a stadium again? how many times is that now? 3? 4? i've lost count.
just my interpretation

| I thought all Mr Vasty's points were very eloquently answered by you, Disco!
I really can't understand how this thread has gone on for so long, after all it's about our near neighbours, not about us, surely if they wish to discuss the merits of their new found Superleague lifeline it would be better done on their own forum, or are they just really trying to wind us up about their promise of a stadium, right on the Leeds border? a matter of less than a mile from the facilities at Rothwell Sports Centre? If memory serves me correctly Newmarket is part of Methley, which is in Leeds, so not sure how that stacks up?
But I have every confidence that we will have our stadium at Glasshoughton and that we can look forward to a rosy future, Wakefield's stadium is Wakefield's business, not ours.

The thread has gone on so long because of the way the situation SEEMS to be changing. All the talk at the moment is us sharing at Stanley. It now very much involves you if latest rumours are to be believed. Im certainly not trying to wind anyone up just asking your thoughts on how would you feel if the GH project does not go through, would the Cas fans accept moving to Stanley?

No no no no no no no! I'm pretty sure that's been answered already in this thread. Are you just going to keep asking until we say "Oh go on then?"
As for these rumours, what there are of them seem to be largely emanating from within Wakefield, not Castleford. Personally I'm not that bothered about what Roy Walker (it's close, but it's not right!) says to the press, or what Wakey fans choose to make of it.

| Quote: Fully "Well, they could 'fund' it indirectly. If they want council facilities in it, i.e. a decent swimming pool they can say, stick it in the stadium costs, we'll pay for that etc.'"
If they put any funds in, it will be enough for a swimming pool. The cost of the stadium will still have to be met. It's wishful thinking to think that the council will give you a few million on top towards the stadium ( we fell into that trap over TP), especially after they have publicly said no money is available to any of the districts clubs for new grounds.
It's no surprise that some Wakey fans have a warm feeling about this situation after the crap we had to endure from some Cas fans on these forums last year. Leading upto the franchises been awarded we were constantly told by Cas fans that we were the inferior application due to our ground situation ( funny how you ignored your teams previous 5 years on field performances). All along your own project was never as solid as what you made out (excellent PR by RW).
Not to mention the ones that came on to gloat about TP project collapsing.
FWIW I'm skeptical about either project even starting before the next round of franchises with the present economic climate but time will tell.
What ever happens and I consider this really important, under no Circumstances should us or Cas share a stadium, we last three years tops before we were forced into a merger. Which would be a disaster but that is another debate.

I bet your not! You choose to believe everything Richard Wright tells you, or should I say what's forced out of him by journalists. Something is not what it seems down your end.
