Quote vastman="vastman"OK, let's approach this from a different angle.'"
...now that your old one's blown out of the water. Okay.
Quote vastman="vastman"Pretend it's not me you're talking to, let's drop all club issues and be rational.'"
Rational. Okay I'll remember that word. Rational.
Quote vastman="vastman"So, I have no insider info (truth is I no longer do) instead it's just a gut feeling, one of those "you just no what's going to happen moments" - a bit like when we play you
What is it this gut feeling Vasty - I don't her you ask
'"
Au contraire, mange-tout. "What is this gut feeling...?"
Quote vastman="vastman"Well it's this - WMDC.
You see for me this thing will be decided politically and not by the clubs or their supporter.'"
Hmm. Well rationally speaking. Cas have already secured planning permission and had it ratified by central Government too. Further (the reports tell us) Cas don't need WMDC money to complete the project, so I'm not too sure - rationally speaking - that Cas need to play with the body politic too much more. But not to worry... do continue:
Quote vastman="vastman"In a nutshell the Stanley development is an absolute WIN WIN for WMDC which in one foul swoop will remove a massive monkey off it's back. It simply gives them everything they need to wash their hands of the whole issue and at the same time come up smelling of roses - they simply can't lose.'"
By 'monkey' I take it you mean provision of sports/fitness facilities in the city? Hmm, I wonder how pleased people living south of the city centre will be if all they're given is Stanley.
Quote vastman="vastman"If Glasshoughton goes ahead along with Stanley they will end up with a community stadium and privately funded stadium within their area. All parties will be happy. However I firmly believe Cas can't fund it and with Stanley available neither will WMDC, but maybe they can in which case fine.'"
Will it? If Cas raise their own private funds, isn't it rational to expect there'll be a bit of objection from Cas based tax-payers when WMDC start handing out their money to Wakey? You know, similar to [url=http://viewtopic.php?t=327676&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0the sort of objections you guys were voicing when the reverse was suggested[/url?
Quote vastman="vastman"If Glasshoughton fails and Stanley goes ahead they WMDC be OK because they will have given Cas the option and if they miss the boat they only have themselves to blame.
If Cas join in WE get a new state of the art bigger stadium that due to it's position ie in Wakefield but damn close to Cas they can genuinly say they have helped provide a facility for the whole community. This is something they could not do if they backed Glasshoughton which will always be perceived as the Cas stadium.'"
You seem to have missed a fourth, equally rational, possible scenario. What happens if Stanley falls on its a*se like Thornes did?
Quote vastman="vastman"With the sort of money we are talking and the political situation from a purely rational perspective you just know what's coming next - go on admit it, it's what worries you.'"
Sorry mate. I'm not worried in the slightest. I'm supremely confident that Cas won't share a ground with Wakey in Wakey. But even if I'm wrong and they did, there's always Kent Ravens.
Quote vastman="vastman"TBF I would be worried if I were a Cas fan but only because the stadium is in Wakey though only just, the other way around and I'd be worried - I suppose that's where the Trust bit comes in - it would need to gain the trust of both sets of fans - big ask I know.
I'm not saying it's what I want or where I want it, I'm just trying to be realistic and not think like a fan.'"
Responded above. Nothing further necessary.
At this point, I think it might be prudent to wait and see what this week brings. I hear that Richard Wright may have something more to add to the stadium debate in the not too distant future. I don't know any more than you what that something is, but if you're bored I'm happy to speculate for a laugh.
