| I would personally rather watch Cas at the Jungle in the Championship than in Super League at Newmarket.
I know that is very short sighted but just how I personally feel.
The club however would probaly except it as the club needs to be in Super League to remain a full time operation so it would be in everyones best interest to make the move.
Thankfully I dont think we will be put in that position.

| How many times have Cas been labelled a "small town club"? I think we all know, that is exactly what we are, and it's part of what makes us so proud. Many people may suggest it's time for us to shake that label and look to take our club to the future, with a new stadium where ever that may be. SL as a whole is looking to go on to the next step and if Cas do not get a new stadium then they will definitely be let behind. So on that note, we should settle for either GH or NM.
Personally I feel, and would guess many Cas fans are the same, that a stadium outside of Castleford would not feel our own. We would lose that pride of being a small town club holding our own against the rest of SL. Part of many a Cas fans day out to watch Cas is their routine. This will change if we move to GH of course, but for many it will all still be familiar, and still feel like you are attending a match in Castleford. Local pubs, local walk to the game, everything will be still Castleford. If the ground ends up at NM then imo it will always feel like an away day. Get in the car, drive to NM, watch the game, drive home.
I feel it is so crucial for Cas to secure our own stadium at GH, never mind what the feasibility study throws up. I would even take a spot back in NL for a few seasons if someone (RW) could guarantee we would eventually get our ground. I would also temporarily move to NM with that same guarantee. I'm not concerned with where Wakefield end up playing but i do wish them well in getting a new ground, their own ground in Wakefield.
I considered the talk of mergers and even at one point talked myself in to it, thinking that maybe it would be the way to success for this area. If SL had 20 STRONG teams with Cas and Wakey struggling to survive, the so be it, let the merger commence. But we have a 14 team SL. Quins are still plodding along (doing great things for the sport in London of course) and not doing much league wise, Crusaders are total noobs to SL rugby and are a long long way off and Salford are in the same boat as us. Who are the teams wanting to move up from the championship? Widnes, i would love them to be in SL personally, we could so easily have been in their position right now. Featherstone, i'm not so sure they are SL standard or even the future of SL but go ahead and prove me wrong. Leigh, new ground fantastic, definitely on the right path. Halifax, i think they're finally finishing that stand off aren't they? But need to improve tremendously as a club from last time they were top flight. For me there isn't a single team from the championship who are head and shoulders above Cas or Wakey. The day when Cas and Wakey are on their with plenty of stronger clubs above them to keep SL going is the day we should merge, not now. True we're both in need of a new ground and we're not going to win the grand final, but we're not dead yet.

| Quote: Gazemous "I never said Box didn't have a conflict of interest, but it's his job to do what's best for the region. Just because the best option for the region is a stadium at Glasshoughton rather than Newmarket, that doesn't make it a conspiracy against Wakey.
I'd have no doubts if Box wasn't involved in the decision making process (and isn't it meant to be an independent evaluation anyway?), the decision would go to Glasshoughton anyway. If it didn't there would be a clear conspiracy, because it's so obviously the best location, and I think all Wakey fans (if deep down past their rose-tinted glasses) know that.'"
That's the trouble - Box isn't the one making a decision. The Feasibility study is entirely independent and will be given back to the Council.

According to RW, there's still a possibility we can continue on with Glasshoughton without the Council funding.

Everyone keeps mentioning this but if I remember correctly neither team were getting any funding. The council had promised some loan of land that could be used to secure a 'mortgage' against. is the council now saying that it can't give these bits of land?
On Boot's N All last night Eddie kept going on about Italian football teams sharing grounds, but one of those pair are planning on splitting and getting their own stadium.

By council funding, that's what I meant. The council had given both clubs a piece of land, of which they can borrow against (£2m). The Council will withdraw this offer in September if both clubs do not agree to groundshare, which, if the stadium is in Glasshoughton, Wakefield won't.
RW said in the P+C today that we can still progress without that land.

All true apart the NM feeling like an away game, It wouldnt for me because if cas aint in cas then i dont want to know and would probably kiss the proffessional game goodbye, theres some cracking amateur rugby about to satisfy my urges

| I think the little quote from SWAG in the Cas & Pont today just shows how bitter, small minded and closed minded the Wakey fans are.

I haven't read the P+C yet, but reading other things and listening to some other Wakey fans, thats the exact impression i was getting from many of them. Of course, not all Wakey fans are like this but lots seem that way lately. We're both working towards the same goals and both facing the same problems. Neither club is being singled out to be shafted by the council as many Wakey fans are suggesting. No one knows the outcome of the feasibility study or what will happen after that study. Both clubs have been working towards a stadium for a long time, too long, and if this all goes tits up for either/both side then imo the blame will rest squarely on the shoulders of those running the clubs. If they cannot deliver then they should never have been in a position to run any club. Fingers crossed we both get what we want in the long run.

just suppose for a minute
would you go watch cas there
would you support it
would you want cas to remain at wheldon road
would you go it alone with GH
and when you have answered all these questions, just try and understand our feelings and reactions, because we are entilted to an opinion also'"

Call me cynical, but wahtever the study says, they dont have to accept it.
Also(i could be wrong here),any decisions made are not by full council, but by the cabinet, which comprises of 6/7 councillors, headed by Peter Box.

No, the clubs don't have to accept it but I would expect it is highly recommended.
As for the Cabinet, yes, but Peter Box is not one person. But we're lucky in the fact we have Denise Jeffery and Yvette Cooper on board.
