But some of your fans have been camping on the Wakey site for month telling us you're the finest team in SL history. One of the biggest bit of bragging has been the apparent amazing strength in depth you have. So excuse me sing just a little at that excuse - even if you yourself are not one of the perpetrators of that particular myth
Haha do one Vasty. Love how quick you have come running on here after our first heavy loss this year.
And FYI our second team would probably still beat your shower of tripe!!

Probably would considering they are the finest team in SL, have the coach of the decade at the helm and have every position covered by 8 internationals.
Of course I came on here, I was wondering where you had all gone all of a sudden - come on all of you, accept a bit of light hearted micky taking and be a big men, we've had it from you lot all year so fairs fair.

| Yes I was disappointed with our play last night. But without Shenton - Webster - Clarke - Lynch what did we expect. Yes we did give our all last time out and it did come off for us, but our strength in debth may not be quiet good enough.Anyway if we do go to Wembley ( which we have more of a chance than Wigan )could all the wigan fans who bought tickets for the CC final please could either the CAS or Widnes fans have them please. We will reimburse the price paid. Thank you.

| We were gutsy in a way, but very poor in the silly penalties and unenforced dropped balls, we made. I saw 2 or 3 penalties that were penalties that were totally needless. When you are obviously going to be up against it from the start, the last thing you need to do, is piggy back the opposition up the field and cough up possession. The brilliant interception from Matty Bowen killed our last resolve, but even if we had made it 6-6, at that point, to be honest all I think it would have done is keep us battling for a bit longer, and make the final score less damaging.
Hats off to Wigan though, they came out were totally ruthless and efficient and made sure of the spoils. They also had men missing but they also have a good batch of promising youngsters that can step in at SL level adequately, or more. Which brings me to one of our concerns. Despite our good showing this year, apart from Dan Fleming when he's fit, we have not any. I have been talking to two or three people who take a very active interest in our junior set up, and they all tell me, we have not one youngster at present apart from DF, who is capable of playing in SL right now. Our under 15 batch, which will be next years under 16's have some good likely lads but between them and the first team there is nothing apart from a lad called Will Maher, who looks promising, but as a 17 year old forward he is nowhere near ready just yet. It is to me a concern as other clubs have youngsters who can step up to the plate in times of injuries.
So if that is correct, and I have absolutely no reason not to believe it, then it will be 2 or 3 seasons, before we have any youngsters ready to step into the breach.

| It was to be expected, after last saturday's game.It took more out of us than Wigan. he did right to rest players. He will have full squad at St helens next Sunday. They lost 42-0 last night. Every team has bad days. We beat warrington 40-6, look at them now.

You can't really use that as an excuse though. If you want to win stuff you have to be able to win games even when you're missing players.

No elitism at all, and sorry if I've touched a nerve.
As I've said in another thread I'll be cheering you lot on in the cup.
But you can't make the excuses of injuries or players not playing for your battering on friday, because if that's true then you won't win much.
We were still without Charnley, Thornley, Goulding, Taylor, Pettybourne all of whom would be in our 17 under normal circumstances.

Charnley - fit and not being selected
Thornley - not very good
Goulding - over rated, Gelling out performing him
Taylor - fit and not being selected?
Pettybourne - really not good at all, penalty machine
So hardly massive losses to the Wigan side.

Ok pal. Clearly you know nothing about our team, not that I would expect you to as you don't support them but anyway.
The point remains. You were missing a few players and got battered. That can't happen if you want to win trophies.

| Course it can. Us losing to you has no connection to if we win the cup. Challenge cup and playoff games, all that matters now. We will raise our game again at the business end of the year, you lot should fully know that's how it works!

Of course, it's all about peaking at the right time. My point is, what happens if (god forbid) you lose Clark, Shenton and lynch to injury for the CC or just before the playoffs. It might happen or it might not but there is a possibility and it's these types of things you need to be able to deal with and still win games.
Also, what makes you so confident that you will raise your game for the business end of the year? Its not as simple as it sounds.

| There was a touch of jest involved. God knows mate. Not used to cas being 4th, semi of the cup and involved at the business end. Was just using some tested cliches!

Brilliant! well done indeed. needed a good laugh and this is pure gold.
Charnley is fit, in terms of not injured, not match fit.
Goulding, double winning centre from 12 months ago.....Overrated! one of the most underrated players in the whole wigan squad. a player criminally overlooked by opposition fans (and some Wigan fans, the classic scapegoat for our fans)
Thornley, double winning centre from his first full season in SL. scoring a try a game before his injury this season.
Taylor being rotated, missed 1 game. thats what wigan do better than any other team.
Pettybourne one of the star wigan players this season before his injury.
not to mention Clubb who was one of wigans biggest meter makers and playing fantastically, Green who has been pure class for wigan and Williams who has made a name for himself as the backup hooker.
A serious lack of knowledge on your part of the Wigan team.
First choice team would be
Bowen
Charnley
Goulding
Thornley
Burgess
Green
Smith
Taylor
McIlorum
Pettybourne
Bateman
Farrell
Lockers
Flower
Clubb
Williams
Crosby
Gelling has been excellent so may be pushing Daz or Thornley for the a centre position or a pushing one of the props/2nd rows out for a place on the bench for the pack. But Daz and Thornley have big batch experience which Gelling hasn't.
I really enjoy it when fans say people like Thornley are poor! did you watch the big games last year, he was brilliant!
