Harry Tyson Wilson will be the best young half back in the league within a few years still only 17. Also have Reece Dean, Jansin Turgut, who are likely to make it pro soon enough.'"
I remember when Tommy Lee was coming through and Hull fans used to say he was going to be a future international too
On topic, is this just a runout or is there any substance in it ??? I find it a strange one with Owen playing his best stuff ever for us and Arundel won't be on peanuts at hull if we offered a deal and they offered more when he went.

Hull have that high hopes for him, they sent him to train with West Tigers for a few months last year.
As you say back on topic, I personally can't see it happening. He's been linked with us before and I think it'll be the same scenario this time. Nothing will come of it.

What like Dorn, tansey, Dixon, carney, Webster, Channing, Gibson, Finn, Ellis, Sneyd, wheeldon, Hauraki, Millington and Marino?
Every club needs players from other places, no one can Rely fully on local players. After years of neglect by Hetherington and her team, we are finally getting our youth system in order and now it's up there with the best in SL.
In the last two years we have brought through Shaul, Crooks, Bodwen, Green, Cunningham and Hadley.
If you want to keep players, look after them, hopefully with what Powell is doing you won't lose your better young players anymore.

That'd be alright if you were making a good point. Except you don't. You've listed 14.
Shenton, Lynch, Milner, Huby, Massey, Clark, Boyle, Holmes, Owen, Clare, Fleming, Reynolds. That's 12 to your 14, almost 50% Cas academy.
You've just mentioned 9 in two posts (between you and the other OP), one of which rarely plays - if at all - (Cunningham), vis-à-vis Reynolds and one that doesn't play for you in Hodgson. If we're doing that, let's include:
Olivier Elima
Shaun Lunt
Ben Blackmore
Joe Westerman
Joe Arundel
Jordan Thompson
Liam Watts
Greg Eden
Jonathan Walker
Matty Dawson
So in the 7 years since Houghton made his debut you've produced 9 players?
Whilst a few of our players are outside this - Lynch, Huby, Elima, Lunt - in that time frame we've produced double the amount of players to play in Super League, not forgetting those in the Championships too. And a total of 22. Notwithstanding factors such as two relegations, lack of money, being at the wrong end of the table and 50% less support base.....catch my drift? To produce 22 Super League players, virtually a full squad, is testament to Cas's quality at producing players.
Sure we can't keep hold of them but that isn't necessarily down to will; there are many variable factors including money, which often come into play.

| I don't think you was actually criticised about bringing players through, you bring through some fantastic players. Clark for a start. It was mentioned about us not bringing our own through. As Dave stated when Kath was incharge she didn't give a sh.t about our youth system. Lately we've brought through Bowden, Green, Crooks, Shaul, Hadley, Cunningham and Lyne (Wakefield). Not sure if Lineham can be counted. Before that Houghton, Hodgson, Hall. Not brilliant, but like I said since Kath has fec.ked off! It's got hell of a lot better.
I believe our 16s are top of the league and lost their first game of the season to Hull KR recently, although we were missing three players to the England squad.
Anyways, Owen. Won't happen imo and not overly d either.

| Ahh - that great self producing club Hull FC sniffing round little old Castleford again.
We would be mad to let Arundel back after he turned us down last time and went to the Cods - constantly injured and a player who has gone backwards since he left Tigers - no thanks. I would rather see young Howden get his chance.

That's the problem, as I said its not just our players Hull are after and that's all I can say. I've always liked FC, but I feel like they are raping Cas. It just seems they try to help themselves to anything half decent we have. With regards to players, its a bitter pill to swallow when we have put all the hard work in to bringing them through and bigger clubs just swoop in as soon as they are ready. I suppose if it wasn't FC it would be Wigan or Leeds etc.

As I've said the reason why our youth has suffered was Hetherington and Agar, who are now ruining your neighbors.
Hopefully we are following Cas, Wigan and Leeds model of bringing players through. Our squad Is about 50% local lads, so we are getting there but sometimes you need to plug the gap short.
All this about us constantly raiding you is over the top. In the last three years we have signed 3 players, one each year in Westerman ( were you got a big fee), Arundel and Thompson. In this time you have signed two players from Hull in Ellis and Lynch.

| Ryan McGoldrick and Hull played a decent part in de-stabilising Rangi. It was only visa problems that stopped the move. To be fair we wanted rid of Ryan and were better without Rangi.

And those three players were all "up and coming" stars of the club when you signed them. Lynch was also originally a Cas player on his debut so that's a bit redundant.
I think Hull just have a bit of a reputation for coming in and swiping our best and brightest.

As I've said that's Cas problem, they need to look after there young players, maybe if you would have sold Chase a few seasons ago or make the right choices in coaches these players would have stayed.
The fact other clubs are always going to come in for your better young players, but you have to look after them on and off the field like Leeds and Wigan do, or you will lose them.
I really hope this happens at Cas, really hope the rumour about Clarke isn't true.

| The rumour about Clark is true. It's a done deal and I can gaurantee you all that. The money we got for him was spent in pre season too to help us build so there's no going back. We are however looking for a replacement hooker as well as looking for another halfback for next season. Both are also true. As well as we have signed a prop from Fev for next season too. Crossley or something his name is.
