| Quote: kinleycat "He was under contract last season, you compensated us by half his wages.
By my reckoning you owe us a snickers at the very least.
Can't see any comp, mutual agreement we either he remains on loan (costs you) or you release him and he signs for whoever on less money.'"
Actually, you're paying more than half his wages.
As for your other post, is there anywhere that proves that Millward "hates" Mathers or is that something you've just conjured up based on RM's departure on loan from Cas this season?
If Millward has any sense the first thing he'll be doing his seeing how RM can add experience and depth to the backline and thrash this out ahead of the new season. With only Dixon, Carney and Clare to cover the wings, having Owen as a third winger would be hugely beneficial. That would free up Tansey to cover 6 behind Rangi and Ellis.
You say it isn't a problem...but how many experienced decent quality full-backs are there out there on a free you're able to snare, if you believe that a new FB is key? Not many.
Cas could release Mathers purely for the salary cap space but that would almost certainly be reliant on us finding a replacement I would say.

Clearly Mildred has little time for Margers genes the stand-off at the start of the season and you loaning one of your better and more experienced players out on loan to your bitter rivals

If indeed!!!

You ought to be telling your coach that not me!!

Isn't Owen good enough any more?'"
We've hopefully still got Sykes, then there is Cockayne. No dramas.
Like I said the problems are all Cas's, is Mildred going to lose more face with the players by bringing Mathers back or does he want the extra wage of a non playing player on the salary cap?

| We were informed Wakey were paying more than half at a Supporters Club event, I believe. HTH. I have been to so many meetings forgive me as I can't remember which one. Might have been Meet the Coaches.
Nothing to do with Owen being good enough; it's about depth and a replacement for Mathers would almost certainly be a three-quarter/winger. Rhys Williams would probably be most likely.
But if we're going for depth then someone like Mathers would be beneficial. Like I said, Owen could go on to wing with Carney. He wouldn't be non-playing.

| Let him go back to you, and then you will have to pay ALL of his wages. That is why Wakey are in the driving seat. We could just say "back to you", and in which case, you've got a player you don't want eating up money you don't have, and a big space on the cap. Or we get him on our terms.

Oh yeah I'm sure he can't wait to get back playing in front of the fans who abused him earlier this year, rejoin a club he was told he wasn't good enough for, who then promptly finish joint bottom whilst he plays playoff football!

OK so you must be right because you can half remember something somebody told you, i am clearly wrong as you pointed out.
The facts remain if you want him back, have him back, however two people don't want that to happen.
Posturing from you won't make the slightest bit of difference and most casites that come on here have certainly made their feelings clear on Mathers during the course of this season. As ever you are in a minority of one!!
Wether you can even afford him based on reports of some senior players having to defer their wages is another point entirely, i would argue.

So was Brett Ferres when you signed him from us at the start of the 2009 season. We never received a transfer fee, the reason...we needed to free up money on our limited budget to strengthen elsewhere. See the similarities? This case is even clearer cut. Thanks to Millwards man management you have a contacted player taking a decent wage of a limited budget. You need to get rid, we hold all the Ace cards in the negotiation, I can't see Glover been stupid enough to pay a fee in these circumstances.

| Id like to see him remain at Cas but really cant see it happening.
Basil obviously doesn't rate the bloke and 'something' has happened at some point between player and coach.
So we have a back line of Owen, inured Aussie, Webster, Shenton, Dixon/Tansey or if rumours are true Foster?

| I can't imagine Wakefield paying any fee - particularly given that we have Lee Smith and Ben Cockayne readily available to occupy the fb berth if an agreement can't be reached.
Equally, I can't imagine Cas fighting to keep hold of a player who the Head Coach valued so little that he was prepared to ship him out to your nearest rival but continue to pay 40% of his salary.
I imagine the player will be released from his contract and will become a free agent; at that point, we may or may not sign him, depending on what Agar's plans look like for next season.
What a silly argument - it's just business!

I imagine Mathers is happy at Wakefield so I would think if he had the choice he'd stay at your club.
