"I can tell you the atmosphere was extraordinary at Wheldon Road on big days. The ground held around 15,000 people, every one of them close to the action on the field and the noise would be enough to send a rumble through the town" - Malcolm Reilly "Reilly - A Life in Rugby League":d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_39793.jpg |

| Quote: Dannyboywt "As I said on one of the post during the arguments about the ground. The smaller clubs need to stand together, this is a clear sign that there are fasionable and unfashionable clubs. Like someone said the smaller clubs are basically been forced out of business having to provide stadiums they can't afford. The super league want to reduce the size of the league and stick to the elite. I said during the last licences that the chapionship seems more honest in rugby terms and now sort of wish we had gone down. Playing in "our" iconic traditional grounds in a lower league where we would be very competative seems appealing today.
Not sure if Cas fans feel the same way but it isn't about rugby this league.'"
Being A Fax fan I and many others would rather stay in the Championship right Now as it is A very competative league with A good standard of proper RL of course being A so called big fish in A small pond is very nice place to be. I wish you all the best up their in the promised land, with the way things are i'm glad we are out of it !

| This is shame full but after going to the meet directors meeting the other week and listning to Steve Ferris i 100 percent sure that Cas voted for this it is in our intrest for the bulls to be in SL because if they go some other club will go aswell which will proberlly be us so i believe some teams have had no choice but to suport the Bulls.

In effect the RFL cannot kick anyone out of SL as long as we keep our heads above water. If SL goes down to 12 clubs this will be done without having to choose the weakest application (ie Franchising). A self-culling if you like.
My prediction - Bulls will go down to Championship 1 and we will have a 13 team SL next year then P & R will be back for 2015.

SLE has 15 shareholders. The 14 SL clubs and the RFL. According to Gary Hetherington (yes, I know, but he was actually at the meeting) there was unanimous support for a bid to buy Bradford

Featherstone Rovers - Co-Operative Championship League Leaders and Champions 2011: |
|
| Quote: Tigerade "Take note Halifax and Fev fans - you've no chance of SL.
This is the defining moment where the so-called upper echelon of the game in this country officially becomes what we all knew anyway - a closed shop!
Regarding Cas Tigers - we should now abandon out plans to move out of Wheldon Road - after all its an iconic stadium much loved by away supporters as well as the Cas faithful. We are losing players and supporters alike (lets be honest here) if the game cannot afford to lose 10K Bulls fans can the RFL also afford to lose Castleford Tigers ? or are we (and Wakey for that matter) just "expendable" ???'"
Bang on the money Tigerade, we've no chance and most of us now think we should be forgetting all about it.
If I were a Cas fan, I'd be itching to join the Championship. It's way more entertaining.

| I have a soft spot for Bradford and have every sympathy for their plight, however the idea of the sl owning them stinks to high heaven and means there cannot be a level playing field when issuing franchises.
I think he sport seem like its deliberately trying to lose all credibility at times.

| I thought this was going to be a thread about that idiot of a touch judge / liensman / assistant referee who gave Wakefield their first try on Sunday. If I made a mistake at work like that I'd be dismissed but no doubt BenT Thaler and his cronies will be ruining someone elses weekend come Sunday.

Looked short from where I was too but my issue was how they ended up in that position. A Cas player is tackled and the Wakefield player rolls over the Cas player as he's trying to regain his feet, causing him to drop the ball. A clear penalty for interference but the knock-on was given. I got the feeling we couldn't have bought a 50/50 in that first half, or even an 80/20 call for that matter.

I have no time for Bradford what so ever to be honest, mainly due to the utterly boring brand of RL they've insisted on playing for so long which ruins the spectacle of this great sport.
Now the inflated issue that I have is that this action will set a precedent. It effectively tells all the other clubs that they needn't bother managing their finances, remaining solvent, try to increase their revenue, or spend within their means because the RFL will just bend over backwards to fix things. The actual precedent they should be setting is one where if a club is unable to live within its means and within the rules then tough - they have to suffer the consequences.
I seriously hope that if Cas have agreed to this SL take over of the Bulls, that there are some conditions in it to safeguard our future should we ever be in the same position.

Yeah, clearly nothing wrong witht the first try as even Lee Smith who was at acting half was waiting for the play the ball and was as surprised as the Cas fans when the try was given. Nowt wrong with the other 6 mind!
