NM is OK if you like walking the dogs or even a bit of "stobart spotting" before you go to a game - there's nowt there.'"
I'd say NM is almost exactly equidistant, however we are forgetting fev, so if i am being 100% honest i would say (for this reason only) a joint community stadium in GH would be the fairer of the two, however another plot may have to be chosen, which of course adds even more time to an already too lengthy process.
As for walking dogs and Lorry spotting, if i'm off to a game there is little else i am off for (other than beer obviously) so it may as well be up a mountain or in the middle of a wind farm as Exscape/junction 32 etc etc etc.
I think a merger on these grounds where our clubs are kept as feeder clubs has some legs, but i'm probably in a minority as i dont where blinkers unlike many who would object!!

My main objection to the original Calder plan was that our three great clubs would cease to exist, but this gives us the best of all worlds.
Ownership of the SL club should be split equally three ways, with us each acting as a feeder club to the regional SL side.
What would you call the team? I like 5 Towns RLFC
Where would you build the stadium? Glasshoughton seems like the ideal place, it having the best transport links and being roughly in the middle of the major population centres.
It'll never happen of course, but it's something that I would support 100%'"
5 Towns RLFC ? I don't think i've heard anything less catchy in my life!!!!
God knows? but unless it had no mention of either club it would cause nothing but objections.
The amateur's if selected go on to play for the Wakefield District team!

| Forget it. Neither club would ever agree to a merger, it is all or nothing , unless they both get grounds sorted out. Or of course other clubs go under like Bradford, and possibly Hull KR.

Any club with the ambition but not the money will run the risk of going under, thats how it works.
Teams without ambition will just struggle on and achieve nothing, and they're clueless supporters will then moan and start blindingly obvious threads such as this one because of it.
Now listen carefully, i will say this only once.
If all our clubs were to be kept as feeder clubs in the championship and the new representative club was in SL, wouldn't that be acceptable to all interested clubs and more importantly the RFL?
Don't reply straight away, think about it, you may see it makes some sense but you may run the risk of not posting something stupid. Think about it.

| On reading a bit about nuclear fusion I came across this statement
"Therefore, the main technical difficulty for fusion is getting the nuclei close enough to fuse."
How very apt, but if we could then ??

| Only problem with this new concept would be the location of the feeder clubs base. i.e if CT sold WR and the SL franchise was based in GH - Where would CT play ? Same for Wakey - if Belle Vue became housing and the Franchise was based in NM - where would WTW play ?
Agreed - the idea has got legs, but the 3 clubs wouldn't agree to it.
Another main stumbing block would be CT and Fev's reluctance to have anything to do with anything relating to Wakey as a city which I wholeheartedly agree with. Other than sharing the same post code - we have nothing except rivalry, that of which has got a bit out-of-hand lately IMO.

The ground issue would like everything have to be discussed by all relevant parties, but i cant see why all three clubs could not play out of either their present locations if affordable via some funding from the representative SL club.
I'm no accountant but if featherstone can manage on a thousand or two spectators and put out a side like they do, them i'm sure the other two clubs being in larger geographic areas, should be able to.
Both clubs should do what is best for the area and not cling on to being below average, this is not just an opportunity for now, but for the future and future generations of players and supporters.
I certainly aren't for a minute suggesting there aren't any obstacles, there are, but us waiting for you to go pop and likewise you waiting for us to, just so one team can feel all smug for a while doesn't do anything for anyone.

| Creating a new SL club whilst retaining all three existing clubs in a lower league is a perfect exercise in shooting yourself in the foot; you're giving your customers a gilt-edged reason NOT to come watch you.
One super-club, one feeder club - in a generation, it would be a massive force in RL.
I should add however that it will never happen.

One Super Club and one Feeder Club would never get off the ground.
Who out of us, cas and fev would vote for the chop and who would vote to be the feeder cluc while watching the mortal enemy went on to success?
If it were to get off the ground all three clubs would need to keep an identity, this is hugely important.
Going forward it would have to be a representative side not a merged one IMO of course.
