Truth is they are not alone, with RW at the helm I would be concerned if I were you and I don't mean that in gloating way either - very few SL are in a healthy state at the moment. I reckon this is just the start.
What many don't know is that he RFL commended Wakefield on there finances as late as Sept 2009 nor as a share holder did our accounts for 2008 (presented 2009) look all that bad either, basically one year before we went bust.
Most clubs other than those already purged (basically us) are to a bigger or lesser extent crippled with old debt. This in a time when banks simply will not lend more and are all to happy to claw it back by pulling the plug - which is effectively what happened to us and now Bradford. Castleford are as vulnerable as any, in fact by virtue of not having gone bust in the past (as far as I'm aware) you may have more toxic debt than most but that is pure speculation on my part.
Nervous times for the game.

Not really, they were doomed when you run a club this way:
Cheap season tickets
Spend the full salary cap on under-performing players
...the cheap season tickets is the problem imo, you can't lose out that much on season tickets.
Where as if you look at Cas, they don't spend the cap because they know they can't, and the loss they did make last year wasn't anything compared to the other teams and as long as Fulton is still around, the club is fine.

I am not normally a basher of yours, even less a person to directly respond to an individual opinion - I usually appreciate balanced and free speech. This however is nothing more than a poorly veiled "It could be you next" it adds nothing to the thread and serves only to try and vindicate your own clubs former position by casting doubt on everyone elses. Good luck to you and yours for the new era and the newly formed debt free company and taking the opportunity given to your club - but don't try and implicate everyone else in the financial mire.
I like a debate and a balanced discussion, but this is nothing of value in that area in my opinion.

Thank God someone still has a grip on reality. I'm amazed that despite the warnings from Crusaders, Wakey and now Bradford some Cas fans' immediate reaction is, 'Great, there may be some players available, lets buy a couple.'

Bradford have lived beyond their means, mind you the Harris case was the beginning of the slippery slope for them.
I certainly don't want the club to adopt a "Leeds United" spend policy, but to spend it more wisely. I will sound like a cracked record here but large 4 year deals for Mcgoldrick & Hudson?...3 year deal for Snitch?
The club needs to be a bit more savvy in contract negotiations.

Vasty - you do realise RW is our only our CEO don't you ?. He does have a fair size share in the club - granted, but you talk about him "at the helm" is way off the mark if you think he is running the club. Jack Fulton is the Chairman and chief benefactor along with his son Ian. RW as CEO is the equivalent of Elston and is answerable to JF.

That's exactly what it is, but I do clarify it by stating it's is pure speculation on my part. I have absolutely no proof to hand that Cas are in anything other than the rudest of good health. However I have nothing and neither do you to suggest you are. Cas are not immune from the real world and they are not this home spun thrifty club who's BOD are beyond reproach that some fans so love to make them out to be. So yes it could (only could) be you, no apologies for stating the obvious.

Obviously I disagree with you - your post in my opinion is little more than "if the wind chnages you will stay that way".
No Operating Board is beyond reproach I agree, speculate away.... It is a free country and your opinion is as merited as mine and rightly so!

It seems thread drift has overrun your discussion point!
Getting it back on track (well attempting to) I have stated on Rovers board I would suggest HKR go for Kopczak, Langley and Gale.

| Firstly I think this is terrible for the Bulls fans, players and staff and I genuinely feel sorry for them. Having said that I won't be pledging/donating any money towards supporting their current owners who have allowed this to happen. They should be accountable for this and I think begging the "rugby league family" for money to cover up their failings is disgusting.
They can blame whoever they want but it looks to me like they attempted to buy their way back into the top 4 by throwing money away and now they are hoping that their own fans and the wider RL community will give them that money back to survive...but for how long?
The other thing that I don't like about this whole situation is the way in which everybody has been taken in by it. Where were the "RL family" fundraisers when Wakefield were on the verge of collapse last year? Nowhere because the likes of Wakefield and Castleford are considered expendable by many. There will have been Bradford fans happy in the knowledge that they were safe and thinking "They should have got their stadium sorted, stuff them" and now look where they find themselves.
Jamie Peacock said on Twitter yesterday "A SL without the Bulls is not an option" - didn't see him campaigning for Cas or Wakey during the last round of franchises. In fact just 2 years ago he was calling for a reduction in teams in Super League. Presumably Castleford, Wakefield, Widnes and Salford would have been an option for the chop in order to get the 10 teams he wanted to compete.
Again, I genuinely feel bad for the Bulls fans and the people involved with the club who have had no part in this situation but if they are able to save the club with donations I sincerely hope that it doesn't simply happen again months or years down the line.

Some people might be avoiding picking over the bones of Bradford, given that they haven't actually died yet? I certainly am, given how vocal I was when Huddersfield did it to us last year.
Even so - I think you'll find that if any players are sold, the monied clubs will get their pick first, given that they can afford to buy out contracts and fit them into their elastic salary cap, thus avoiding the bunfight that will occur should a fire sale eventually happen.
