chase, clark, huby, widders emmitt, orr and dixon were all much better for us last season and irrefutably so.
I personally thought youngquest, holmes, arundel, thompsn, ferres, milner, jackson and jones were all much better too.
Had you said 2nd worse i might agree with you (though im not sure who was worse).
And for brens benefit this isn't me changing my opinion since he has signed for wakey, ive been pretty consistent in thinking he was average to poor for years now (last time i rated him he played for leeds).
Oh and stop shouting!

He always does that - I think he's hard of hearing.
I think you're comparing apples with oranges in large part - I'm not sure how you can meaningfully compare a fb with a prop forward for example?
Anyhow, Mathers is a senior player with a decent amount of medals in his sock drawer and as such, I respect him, as I do pretty much anyone who's sufficiently skilled at the toughest sport in the world to play it at a professional level. Thus far he's doing a good job for us and I've been told by a member of the coaching staff that he's one of the hardest trainers in the squad and a fine example to the younger lads. All in all, a decent bit of business for both clubs, given that IM didn't want him and RA did, so no need to argue!
I still think there's a bit of 'the friend of my enemy is my enemy' syndrome going on, but I guess that's only natural.

I was comparing how vital they were for the team, we looked a better team when goldy played at fb last season, cant think of any other first choice players we had that looked inferior to their own back up.
Oh don't get me wrong bren i think its a fantastic bit of business and one i am very pleased with.
Like i say not from me bren, i didn't want us to sign him in the first place, and to be honest its not my style, when wakey signed brough, higgins and blanch for instance i spoke positively about them to wakefield fans. Ive also stated many times that i think amor, johnson and mariano are 3 great finds and would have any of them at cas in a heartbeat.

Surely it can't have been as big a brain fart as Owen's similar effort was at Headingley last season

He's a bit eccentric, aye.
Good to see young Owen holding his own against an old-stager like Mathers; I'm sure he'll have a decent season if he continues in the same vein.
Interesting thing about stats though - according to Clarkey on Boots N All this week, WTW are 4th in the table of 'clean breaks' made after 2 rounds of SL; breaks are one of his KPI's for SL teams this season, and yet we're 1 from 2. Probably a bit early therefore to read too much into stats, but good on the lad - he's made a bright start.

I haven't got a clue what any of that means; is it part of the ongoing sensible discussion, or have you changed your mind about that?
