| I really feel for the Wakefield fans. I don't want any club to struggle. I want three strong rugby league divisions.

| Had a read of the Wakey thread and it's no laughing matter.

| Excuse my cynicism but I suspect most Cas fans (especially those at the 2006 relegation decider) are privately allowing themselves some enjoyment at Wakey's situation. Whilst it would be better if that enjoyment wasn't broadcast (not least because we are still a long way from having the last laugh) I wonder if Trinity supporters might actually prefer our smug satisfaction to expressions of sympathy at a time when they surely need fighting spirit more than pity.

| Generally, I am pleased by most Cas fans reactions to what is going on at Wakefield. It shows that real supporters of the game know how much Rugby League is part of this areas heritage.
Derby games between Wakefield, Castleford and Featherstone, set tongues wagging and promote the game enormously.
Losing any RL club, e.g. Blackpool is sad for the game, but we continue to shoot ourselves in the foot.
Recent games between Cas and Wakey have always been well attended and the majority of supporters want them to continue, only those with pea sized brains and large mouths fail to understand that.
The Richardson clan at Belle Vue have been taking the michael out of the supporters for years with their deceit.
Their supporters deserve better and with potential investors in the wings, I am sure that better times are ahead, and that Newmarket will go ahead even if administration is a necessity to remove the current owners.

It's one thing to gloat about relegating a team via a crucial match, but something totally different to gloat about a club going out of existence.
If it was 'just' being relegated, I'd have a wry smile about it. As it's about the club going to the wall, I have nothing but sympathy for the fans, players and employees for the club. They've been sh@t on.

| I think there is a general acceptance amongst Wakefield fans that the way forward is administration and then most probably very quickly out again, under a new owner and debt free. I also think the SL bid position could now only get better (if you know what I mean), as under the current regime it was at an all time low. That said, I also think there is a growing acceptance that if it was no club or NL1 they would choose NL1.
The confirmation that Newmarket does not and never did have any financial input from WT or BV means that Newmarket continues to be the future for Wakefield and makes them an attractive proposition for a new owner, a new ground for minimal financial input. Of course Newmarket is not guaranteed but looks almost certain to get the nod under public inquiry, but as whomever buys the club will get it for a snip, then it is a gamble worth taking.
I think they are, in the main, at the acceptance stage of the grieving process!

| Quote: Dettoriman "I am sure there will be some kind of legal comeback to Ted, He has taken you all for a ride.
I actually thought he was doing, And have said it for a while. That he pursued Newmarket, Knowing that it would be called in for Public Enquiry, Then he could plead to the fans he had tried, But the council were to blame. And he could quit then.
Even i didnt think he was capable of this.'"
Its so easy to blame somebody else for the situation we find ourselves in, we were warned 3 years ago by the RFL to sort it out, then blame the council for the Thornes park fiasco and NM getting called in, if it was not for Richardsons greed we would be playing in a new stadium at Durkar where the supposed awful Wakefield council wanted us to go after the collapse of Yorks CC expected move to there, as usual its the fans that suffer once again after having our leg lifted by that man, hopefully for the last time.

Prior to Wakefield relegating us the first (!) time, they were a club I was always staggeringly indifferent about - Fev then Leeds were the big matches as far as I was concerned.
Since the relegations though I'd never make any secret for my hatred of their club (admittedly this is based on the few hundred who revelled in our misfortune).
I find it reassuring that out of the targetted 500 "fans" who were urged to save the club - a grand total of 26 have stepped up to the cause. Apologies to the genuine Wakey fans who didn't ignite such hostility between our two clubs over the last half-decade-or-so - but the others? - Well, I'd be a liar if I didn't acknowledge that the CURRENT situation doesn't fill me with great/smug pleasure.

We (SWAG & RFN) asked direct questions and were given very direct answers in confidence, but I can tell you it was NOT the club! Maybe confirmed was poor choice of words, we have been informed, as said on other threads, is the better way of putting it. We do believe that what we have been informed is correct but obviously we are respecting confidences as asked.

| I have sympathy for the genuine Wakey fans...not so much for the Know-all, troll types who invade this site from time to time.

| dont think we can be too smug here ,
there is a chance that by the start of the season wake could be out of administration, debt free with new investors , a new board and money to spend !
Wish cas had the latter two things going on !

Indeed and how will the 'sympathisers' react if they, or Crusaders, eventually retain SL status at the expense of a club like ours because leaving people whistling for their money is perceived less of an issue than failing questionable stadia criteria.

bigalf - We have now had a second but still confidential source confirm exactly what we were told by the first, so we are as confident as we can be that the information is correct.
