I can't agree with your spurious argument.
Had the home games against Leeds not been on Sky and had poor weather the last 2 seasons, they would have been the highest attendance of the league season for Cas. As they had been 20 of the previous 25 seasons.
Prior to the last 2 seasons, the last time Wakefield were the highest attendance at Wheldon Road was Boxing Day 1983. The day Wally Lewis was sent off, i seem to remember. .  |

Also have to factor in the fact that the Wakefield one in 2009 had a deal on to bring a friend for a fiver or something.

Beating Wakefield means no more to me than gaining the 2 ponits on offer. When we beat the likes of wigan, warrington, saints and leeds that will mean something as we are expected to lose to these teams.

| Got to agree to a certain extent that beating Leeds means more to me than beating Wakey, but that said it's nice to beat Wakey as our most local rivals.
What's frustrated me for the last decade or so is that when we've been the better side they seemed to beat us and when they've been the better side they've seemed to beat us - in other words they seem to beat us more often than not. This season we look like much the better side on paper so expect a return to them somehow producing frustrating victories over us once again  |

Have to say that in recent years beating Wakey has become progressively more important to me due to the perceived 'us or them' franchise situation and being relegated by them twice. I'm surprised other's don't appear to feel the same.
That said Fev will always be the old enemy as far as I'm concerned.

It only has more significance when we are on a similar number of points, as seems to have been the case for a year or two now, otherwise it really is just another two point. The Leeds game has always had that bit of extra spice and going back a few years, even games against Fev, but Wakey was always just another game.
In Cardiff, it will of course have extra meaning, being the first game of what we all anticipate will be a good season for us, getting the two points would be a great start for us, but we can't take anything for granted, as JK will no doubt have his charges eating raw meat as the game always has great significance for him, being a former player and a former member of our backroom staff.

Perhaps there is no reason for them now that amber seems to have lost interest, or it could be that they have other things on their minds atm, lets just be thankful for small mercies and not tempt fate. |
