I would love your last game there to be against the Rhinos

Wheldon Road/Jungle has always been my favorite away game, it will be a sad day for all you Cas fans when the final hooter goes on the last day, but at least it will be a step in the right direction and should secure your SL futures

How about you fans posting all your memories of the ground on a thread on this forum?

Surely there must be some fantastic tales/experiences to tell

Me to I would love a part of my garden that would be forever Weldon Road!!

Also we all need to make a concerted effort to rid the club of those who bring disrespect to the great name of Castleford Tigers!!

Best moment for me was comming from 18-0 down to beat the Saints in 2002 not many people at the game but what an atmosphere! and we had some real quality on display from Mitch Healy, Darren Rogers, and Wayne Bartrim to name a few who in my opinion having watched many other players scrum down for Cas were vastly underrated in their time at the club.

The saying 'bent as a 9 bob note' has now been dropped.....corrected phrase is 'bent as the RFL!':d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_45047.jpg

Some great ideas here, especially those which raise a bit of brass for the club!

I think that we should invite some Cas legends to attend the game, aswell as other legends of the game. We should have a commemorative programme produced with a look back through the years at Wheldon road. Perhaps a mention of the record holders, tries, conversions, appearances etc etc. We should maybe do the same with a special commemorative DVD, showing some of the earliest video records of the ground and games at Wheldon Road.

Perhaps if there is anything worth auctioning we should have a special event to rasie some funds.

Should we make a special request to the club to name a stand behind the posts at the new ground as the 'Wheldon road stand?'.

How about the road leading up to the side stand that is for standing spectators being called "New Wheldon Road" so that side stand would be the WRE icon_wink.gif

I recall Graham Murray commenting on Hepi

He told the Rhinos players that they might as well have a big red cross on their heads when he is on the pitch icon_lol.gif

Just imagine the atmosphere if at that last game we get some of our past heroes to attend -I'm sure if we asked Vowlesy would come and brad is still playing somewhere down south. And then there is the likes of Eager and Fritz not to mention old time stars sush as Alan Hardisty, Mal Reilly, Grahame Steadman,John Joyner and Lee Crookes - we could go on forever. What a day of mixed emotions it would be!! a014.gif

One of my greatest memories was when I really became a Cas fan, the game where we beat Wakey 86-0. Now that was particularly sweet

I say if again!...but the last season at Wheldon Road/Jungle, how about the home shirt in the same design of the 1986 Challenge Cup win, with the names of the 50 greatest Cas players (voted by the fans and club officials)woven into the shirt?

The away shirt same design as the 1969/70 Challenge cup win, with the season ticket holders for the last season at W.R woven into the design like the 2002 shirt?

Think most would by both,i would icon_thumb.gif

[b:x70mwo3o]my girlfriend says i'm immature, and it's time we set aside one day a week so we can talk things through as adults. like THAT'S gonna happen in the middle of conker season!![/b:x70mwo3o]:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_51886.jpg

Id personally settle for that, a good lick of paint and the old girl will do for me.

I just hope the atmosphere goes with us to this new ground because all the others i have visited arent half as good as the ones they have replaced..... hull, hull kr, warrington, wigan, Huddersfield . all soulless pits without half the atmosphere or character of their predecessors.

10 years time eh, the way superleague is going , Ill be glad to still have a club to follow
