Quote: Poker Face "Yet again, we lose a game we should have won. Plenty of times last year, we lost games we should have won (did we win many that we shouldn't have - I can't remember ?). We say we have to learn from it, but do we ?
Do we just dwell on our mis-fortune and forget the good bits of fortune ?
In my opinion 10, 11, 12 sides in SL are much of a muchness and can all beat each other. These blokes have played rugby all their lives and what seems to let us down each week are the basics. If the team spend the next 5 days passing, catching, tackling - will it make us any better in our next game ? No. Why should it, they have passed, caught and practised tackling all their lives.
We are NEARLY a decent team. So what are we lacking ?
Leadership ? Yes
Character ? Yes
Mental strength ? Yes
Can these things be taught on the practise field in training ?'"
What we are so obviously lacking is a dictating scrum half.
We have been beaten 3 weeks on the trot by teams whose scrum halves have totally dominated all their plays.
Warrington - Lee Briers ran everything for them and won the game almost on his own.
Bradford - Matt Orford ran everything and all their plays came of him or Brett Kearney - who had been a spectator in their previous games.
Hull KR - Michael Dobson - totally played Sherwin off the park.
Whilst we persist with an unfit, uninterested injury prone player as our main playmaker we will struggle.
