I would rather Brierly plays the remaining games this season whether we win or lose than continue to upset the entire balance of the team by playing people in makeshift positions, which adds no value in the longer term.

Sure, if we lose the remainder of our games, we will finish 10th and that'll hurt - but at least we will have gained something for the future.

Although 8th would be a great achievement, it is not the answer to our problems and would to some extent gloss over something we know already; we are running thin and need some players to be pushing for a spot but not yet in our first 17, and if this helps Brierly to start building a first team presence and confidence, so be it.

I hope he gets on and gets the kind of reception a local lad should who needs ENCOURAGING on the start of his journey..... I remember Tomkins and Robinson amongst others getting coated when they started out when they broke through young and even Danny Orr got some flack at our place, everyone starts somewhere and will make mistakes.

Aye, my mistake - but the point stands, there is no future with Widders at Stand Off we get a fist full of f@ck all out of that - so lets play him and you never know, we could uncover Kyle Eastmond, or Kyle Warren, but at least we know for the future.

It's the way of rugby league at the moment, most superleague clubs have junior players from over the other side of the pennines, look at the number of clubs now taking Cumbrian juniors onboard and the number of players from this side of the hill plying their trade over there, if I remember rightly, such as Robinson went to Wigan but was a Halifax kid.

Ryan is a Cas junior so he's one of ours as far as I'm concerned.

They are not having a go that he is from t'other side of the pennines, just pointing out a fact.

Don't get your knitting in a twist!

Ryan was born in Preston, lives in Westhoughton.

as a wiganer ive never heard of brierly but he sounds an exciting prospect
i think he should play, sam tomkins should have played for wigan last year imo and hes been great for us this year.being a local lad he gets excused mistakes that overpaid aussies dont.noble seems always to prefer experienced players but our best performances have included more local lads
might see you sunday

Not gonna happen - last game of the season is home to Celtic which I'd have strongly fancied us to win even before they had 6 of their best players faced with deportation.

If you'd have told me before the season began we'd get 26 points I'd have been more than happy but having spent most of the season in a play off place I'll inevitably be slightly disappointed if we fail.

I reckon 28 points will be enough to see us into the playoffs so a win against Wigan (unlikely) or away at Harlequins (more likely) will be needed. If we were to win all 3 I reckon that would give us a home draw in the 1st round of playoffs - not necessarily a good thing given our form at home this season!
