| Richard Wright: "We've got a new stadium project up at Glasshoughton, it's been about 3 or 4 years in the making and we've got a planning permission and hopefully in 2011 we'll be there playing Super League football."
Dave Woods: "you say hopefully, how certain are you that this move is going to take place?"
Richard Wright: "er a great deal of works been done, obviously the financial climate at the moment is slowing everything down and people aren't coming on with projects that were planned but wer'e pretty confident that everything is going to plan. We've got the funding package put together and we're pretty sure we're going to be in in 2011."
Dave Woods: "Near neighbours Wakefield are looking for their new stadium, Is there any chance of sharing between the two clubs?."
Richard Wright: "Its always been a difficult sell for the fans, the prospect of one or the other playing in the others back yard and I think that's a difficulty er.. You never know what's going to happen.. Er . but to be honest Wev'e you know. . We're we fair fairly fortunate that we've got this leisure destination on our doorstep at Glasshoughton. A stadiums a great fit for the whole place and er y'know this has been going for some time so we're very fortunate to have that in our vicinity, so we we'll have to see what happens. We're just pluoghing our own furrow at the moment."
I put the stutters, the ers and the y'knows in the quote because it seemed to illustrate a general nervousness from RW. The first part of his statement also seems to contradict the second.

| Quote: braytontiger "knocking the main stand down and turning the field around has been spoke about for years and im sure was the original plan before a new stadium got brought up,where we would play while the work was done is anyones guess.
but thats a last resort, i still believe glass houghton will be delivered if not now then when the economic climate changes and picks up.'"
Surely turning the pitch around and rebuilding the stands would be as expensive as the Glasshoughton option, if not more so. Why not just replace the main stand with a mega structure accomodating all the requirements of license criteria eg minimum seating capacity etc OK the ground still wouldn't look attractive but it would be fit for purpose and we would get to keep the type of atmosphere which most new stadia are totally devoid of.

Kear is a Coach, RW is a CEO - you'd expect one to be better informed than the other

Lets just wait until Cas make an announcement about our stadium. I know no more than anybody else on here, but unlike Vastman I am not going to guess about what Cas have or haven't done. He spends so much time talking about Cas, I'm sure he's a secret Tigers fan!!!'"
Apart from a 10 year old sketch we could be talking Glasshoughton.
TBH you have a point, but the only one that really matters is proof of funding the rest IMO are window dressing. Proof of funding is the one thing neither of us have - same at Saints and Salford for that matter.

That's true, the more I think about it, the more it seems to me that the RFL could/should have a leniant stance come 2011. I think that it would be hypocritical should the RFL pontificate about the lack of quality stadiums in the next round of franchises, as in all honesty, I don't see our ground or any other being completed for that matter. The only difference is that Saints have the best team in Super League and won't be kicked out because of that, whereas what with BBC sport relocating to Salford, I don't think they will be left out. So those two clubs don't seem to be in the rush that the two West Yorkshire clubs are, as this seems direct competition with eachother. I genuinely hope both stadiums are built, but I don't think it will be done in the time frame required- but surely the RFL will use common sense and see that 4/5 clubs are in the same boat and with the state of the economy it is unfeasable to complete before the next round of franchises.
Just out of interest, what is the situation regarding other clubs stadiums? I seem to remember Bradford requiring work to be done at Odsal, or a new facility built, would the RFL kick them out should nothing happen and if there poor form and dwindling crowds continue? I don't say this to belittle Bradford, just stress the point that they would be a much harder option for the RFL to get rid than "smaller" clubs such as Cas or Wakefield.

Dont really fancy sharing but knowing exactly where the location is, the road between methley and wakefield, isnt far at all from cas, its probably the same distance from cas as it is from the centre of wakefield.
Not that i want to share anyway, but its more in the middle than say glasshoughton would be for you.
I drive by the location every morning and there has been a little bit of work going on there for about 6 weeks now.

Pretty sure we have outline planning permission.
All though of course funding is the most important thing, to dismiss the likes of planning permission as window dressing is ridiculous, without it you cant have a stadium simple as, as for feasability studies, i'm sure as a wakey fan, you need any feasability study to come back positive.

l think Vastmans point is that with funding the rest will follow!!!! Especially in the current economic climate! If any group/company/consortium is prepared to spend £15 Million + (which will mean jobs), then it is very unlikely that planning permission will not be granted or that a feasibility study would not support the project!

We're onto videos now. Where was Wakey's sketch again? Best get it drawn up sharpish if it takes another 10+ years to build.
