Assuming you'd get 3 million and with todays land prices I'm not sure, that would easily be enough to build a new stand with a capacity of say 5k with some boxes and a bar/restaurant.
Problem is that you wouldn't be able to use all the cash on the one project, instead using it to make piecemeal and patch up improvements to WR thus gaining nothing long term.
We have had the same issue at BV for 30 years. I've seen all the plans and some looked fantastic - however we were always forced to stick plasters (ie the floodlights) on the old girl often believe it or not at considerable cost and were never able to start the planned rebuild properly because we never had enough cash. In the last 10 years over 2.5 million has been spent on BV - hard to spot isn't it.
I'm not trolling but I can't see how your going to get the funds to do a half decent revamp of W/R, not in the present economic climate anyway.

| Maybe we should employ Sir Rodders to find us the money. He's doing a great job for WTW in finding the required millions for NM.

What was the last individual stand you saw built for £3m with that capacity?
Halifax's 3500 stand cost £5m to build, Hull KR's North Stand is costing £8.2m, Hull KR's 1120 extension to the East Stand cost £750k to. For a full size stand without any other facilities that would cost £3.75m for a 5k capacity as you insist. £3m wouldn't be enough to build anything anywhere near the capacity needed along with restaurant, corporate and hospitality.

| Why do we need a 5k stand, that is nearly half the capacity of welden road, at present the old wooden fire wood only gets half or at the very most three quarters full.
if cas could make £3m for the land round the ground, the club should look into getting grants to upgrade the toilets, dressing rooms and what ever ells their is out their.
Sell the land back to the council for £??

| I posted on here 12 month ago that Cas wouldn't be getting their new ground and I got shot down in flames, simply cos I was saying something Cas fans didn't want to hear.Surely sharing Newmarket has got to be good for both clubs, and if any Wakefield fan says they don't need to share, they need to remember what happened to them a couple of year ago and that could easily happen again in the future.Would sharing a ground and sharing costs help each club to survive, surely only one answer to that.
I'm a Bulls fan so I know only too well how things can change

| Would sharing the costs, especially in this day and age,not be a good enough reason, both clubs would have more money to spend on other things.
Firm believer if its good enough for the Milan clubs in football it's got to be good enough for Cas and Wakie

Really isn't as easy as that you have supporters of Inter & Milan living side by side in the same city....plus i think you'll find supporters of both clubs don't like sharing the council owned San Siro. They are looking on in envy at the new Juventus stadium...which is owned by the club

Plus they've been talking about building 2 stadiums on opposite sides of the city for years now.

| The main problem is that never club has a new stadium, who knows Cas might get the investment to start, it's ready to be started when the money can be found
NM is supposedly ready to go, thats when they get drawings & planing, & all the concrete carbuncles built, with a bit of luck it will get built in the future
I have no problem at all with a new ground being built at NM, the only problem i have is with all the un-required warehouses

Fortunately, that ship has sailed.
With respect to the original assertion that both clubs would be better off; that seems to be based on a fundamental misunderstanding of the proposed scheme, particularly the fact that it's fully funded by the developer(s), so there is no up-front cost to whichever clubs end up playing there.
On balance, I don't think it matters either way to WTW; from a Cas perspective, the loss of revenue, their only assett and the goodwill of so many fans, probably means they wouldn't be better off at all.

| Like i said i have no problem with a stadium at NM, i know there is plenty who do.
In my mind the stadium is good for the area as all three grounds are past their best, if it all goes as planed we wont have long to wait, but things never seem to go to plan.
The last part i dont understand, the goodwill & revenue & assert.

The poster said that both clubs would be better off if they shared at Newmarket - I'm pointing out that he seems to have misunderstood both the scheme itself and the position that our two clubs are in; Cas in particular wouldn't seem to be better off at NM, as it would mean flogging WR, losing matchday revenue from drinks and food and ticking off lots of their fans.
