Thompsons natural position is stand off, he is a better stand off than a winger, and with no sherwin i would rather play a recognised half there than either westerman or goldy both of whom have tried and failed in that position and would weaken the team by moving from there positions.

As for jones in the centres, who the hell else is going to go there clayton? we might as well not turn up if thats the case, snitch is needed in the middle of the field. Jones will firm our defence up outwide.

What better alternative to jones is there that wouldnt significantly weaken the team in another area? Alot of people thought putting widders in the centre was a terrible idea but it worked rather well.

Oh and by the way jones has filled in at centre for huddersfield before.

netherton was better than hudson against saints why move him from hooker to the halfs when he's a hooker?
Mcgoldrick has been in good form at fulback why move him to a position he hasnt played in years and that doesnt suit his style of play, it wastes his attacking ability (which relies on him moving round the field and coming into the line) and exposes his defensive frailties.
Fullback is a position that is very high pressure and needs an experianced head to organise the defensive line putting thompson there puts him under alot of pressure and will probably end up destroying his confidence.

I thought he was naturally a full back in the academy?

As understand it he is a stand off that can do a good job at fullback.

I think he's been bloody awful. Those 2 attemped tackles on Roby in the first half were some of the weakest full back play I've ever seen. I think Brough will embarrass him further on Friday. He's developed this habit of running a diagonal line from second receiver, whilst it looks good, it rarely acheives anything, and when it does look it might do something, he usually throws a god awful pass.

I've lost count of the amount of times this season mcgoldrick has drawn the defenders into the tackle looks for the offload and theres no one there, compare that to pryce who uses the same tactic, has support and results in his team scoring tries. The australians use there fullbacks as an attacking force, coming into the line like an extra half and its a tactic that works really well, i know goldy has his defensive frailties but he has improved there alot (last year the fans moaned he couldnt catch, this season he's generally looked safe under the high ball) and is one of the only players that is currently giving us go forward.

It was a huddersfield fan that pointed out that in the past jones has played c, so, sr, lf, h and prop.

No one could see widders at centre but last year your ran it him all night (40 tackles) and couldnt find a way past.
