When I visit this board I always have my pants pulled up tight and secure icon_wink.gif

It was a serious question because I was expecting an announcement about the architect by now.

or could it be like some people said from the outset just a stunt to buy time ?

"Castleford's biggest home crowd of the 1991-1992 season wasn't quite 12,000 while on average they'd sit around 6000 but the noise, the chanting and the singing just blows you away" - Tawera Nikau "Standing Tall" "I can tell you the atmosphere was extraordinary at Wheldon Road on big days. The ground held around 15,000 people, every one of them close to the action on the field and the noise would be enough to send a rumble through the town" - Malcolm Reilly "Reilly - A Life in Rugby League":d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_39793.jpg

Quote: bigalf "We could do with a bit of positive news from the club. The Wakey OUTLINE PLANNING application has been accepted today by the council.'"

I obviously mean that the council have validated the plans as an application - not that they have been passed. That I think will take a little longer than the Wakey fans all beleive.

There have been delays with that due to various meetings.

I didn't want to mention RW's stadium update blog just in case it started another load of Wakey trolls coming on.

I'm sure it's too late...

Here you go, my email box had this
We've come a long way Thursday 4th March 2010

I wanted to use the first entry in what will be a monthly blog to give you an update on the progress of our new stadium project.

A major aspect of the project was gaining the outline planning consent. This resolves the Highways and Environment issues which can be major, time consuming obstacles. It is important they do not slow down this important community project.

There’s no doubt that the project is very challenging and complex but we are working continuously to move things forward and I remain extremely confident that the time, effort and finances already committed will be worth it, resulting in the delivery of a high quality stadium for Castleford Tigers.

Last week I attended three stadium meetings, the most significant being a meeting of all the parties involved in delivering the project. In attendance was the Leader, the Deputy Leader and the Chief Executive of Wakefield Metropolitan District Council as well as several senior council officers. Stuart McLaughlin, the Managing Director of developers, Waystone PLC was also present.

This meeting was designed to discuss the key issues in relation to our development strategy and we all left the meeting with action points and responsibilities to achieve before we gather again in three to four weeks.

This week we are focusing on delivering on our action points and responsibilities so that we can demonstrate significant progress at the next meeting.

I would like to make it clear that everybody involved in the project understands the challenge of delivering the new stadium within the right timescale but the good news is that everybody is extremely committed to achieving this.

It is also worth pointing out that the location and site of the project is one of its real strengths. The architects who are in the frame for the design project can see the opportunity it gives them.

The landmark location and its visibility from the M62 motorway means that interest in the project has been extremely high and we believe this will bring the venue and the Tigers some strong commercial benefits.

Recently Xscape reported their 20 millionth visitor to the centre making the site one of the leading leisure destinations in the UK. It is very encouraging all round.

There are certain aspects of the development that we cannot yet make public and this is frustrating for us all but – when the time is right - we will ensure that the fans are the first to know about the key facts and events.

Please stay signed up to castigers.com and we will keep you up to date with all the important Tigers news.

Finally thanks for your tremendous support of the Castleford Tigers...the club would not function without its supporters.

All the best.

Richard

Not for the next 7 months it ain't, any diggers or trucks will struggle in the nightmare that is the roads around xscape because of the relaying of the road surface, however, i don't think this will be an issue as we wont see any movement in that time icon_sad.gif sorry for being pessimistic...

Only joking, the location is great, but just though the other day that the traffic problems we are currently having in the proposed Stadium location, is another nail in the coffin for the project.

lets hope it all comes good in the end.

Not much news then...can see the monthly blog going something like...meetings blah blah...everyone commited blah blah......keep signed up to the website to hear nothing else next month !!

Was extremely positive leading up to christmas with the opening of the unit at Xscape and the architects to be annonced before the end of year etc etc.

Now seriously worried that we're in March and other than may only be two sided initially we have still yet to appoint the architects yet alone be close to applying for full planning !

Am I right in thinking that if full planning not received by November then will need to start all over again ??

Someone please tell me i'm letting my pessimism get the better of me and it's all good.
