| I do think that the contractual situation needs to be looked at.
Players in our sport want the financial security and comfort and commitment a contract offers, but somewhere along the line it has to be mutually respected - right now, players are rightly powerful, they are the product, but players need to respect contracts too.
Good on Phil Vievers speaking out, more coaches should be stronger with apathetic players who don't respect clubs and contracts, but sadly - as Leeds have, clubs are prepared to sign players in this way - and don't think I am being holier than thou - If Moon had come to us and made overtures, we'd have him unveiling our shirt too: doesn't make it right.

| The players have too much power, we saw that at cas last year, they did not like the changers made by the coach so they under performed knowing that they held the power, if a club want rid of a player they have to sack them, that means paying up the contract, but if a player wants to go he just says he is not happy or home sick, then they walk away, the Salford player was under contract so the amount due in transfer fee should be up to Salford, and if Leeds wanted him they negotiate and pay what they are asking or are willing to take, not what Leeds offer, if Moon did not want to play for Salford because he wanted to go back to is home land, there is not a lot can be done, but if the player gets allowed to go home, then signs for a club a few miles away then that club should be made to pay the asking price, or the RFL should not allow is registration

| Papering over cracks to me.
Prolonging the inevitable. After all, £1.5m is not even the full cap for one year?

| True Fully - and they will have to pay it back. God knows how.
The ownership model doesn't look workable IMO either. Getting fans to run some of the club can work but not in SL.

| Loan from the RFL (£750K) matched by Peel Holdings would get them through next season. Can the RFL afford to do it though ?

| The RL, should step in but i don't think they will, peel have also withdrawn the offer by the look of it so that leaves Salford on the edge, with the Bulls the RL step's in and made it clear the players were of limits, folk will say the Bulls offer more than the Reds but why? the team at the bulls looks like it was built with money they did not have and the RL helped them out in more ways than one, so if Salford are in the same plight they should get the same help as the Bulls got,
lets face it we don't want anybody to think there is any favoritism in our game

No because they've got nothing to put against the loan as collateral, i.e. Wakefield.
For a club that has a short-term financial problem they've not helped themselves in terms of getting ST cash in and shirt sales on the go. Equally, I'm sure sponsors will be really tempted to invest in the situation now (not).
They're in a mighty rut. Unless someone is feeling generous or the council have a change of heart, I fear for them.

"I can tell you the atmosphere was extraordinary at Wheldon Road on big days. The ground held around 15,000 people, every one of them close to the action on the field and the noise would be enough to send a rumble through the town" - Malcolm Reilly "Reilly - A Life in Rugby League":d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_39793.jpg |

The directors know they are insolvent, to sell season tickets etc would be against the law, Not looking good.

No it wouldn't. ST's would have gone on sale towards the end of last season when they were still playing games and when cash income was still coming into the club.

| The fact that Salford are not selling ST's is a worry in itself. I thought we were late in putting our package(s) together but with only what 6 weeks to the big kick-off it would look to me that Salford won't be in SL for 2013.
