| Poor signing, massive downgrade on Rangi, decent defence and thats about it, he is far too slow to play halfback at this level.
Injury prone and off the field problems also.

| Lol at the fc fan, Brett is a great player who never got the support and backing he deserved at Hull,Castleford fans are a different class to fc and will give him just that !
Good luck to him and Cas.

| Great defence?
He's an improvement on Rangi in that capacity already.

Wow, wonder who you support?
Good signing. He's not Rangi Chase, but for the first half of the season in 2012 he was very good, his performance against Leeds at home that year was outstanding.
His form dipped massively, and a lot of Hull fans got on his back. It's since came to light that he was suffering from depression which obviously explains that. Don't see how the fans are supposed to spot a players mental condition and act accordingly, personally. But it keeps the inbred Dobbins amused, small minds and all that!
If he's over his problems, and I'm sure he is if your staff are willing to give him a deal. Of course there's a little risk, but I doubt he's on mega bucks now and I think it could be a gamble that pays off. You don't play halfback in the NRL over 100 times if you're .

No one can replace rangi chase, hes the best no6 in the game.
Sounds like hes turned his life around, like some people can.
He only as a one year deal, so not gonna hurt anything trying.
You never know he might just supprise you.

| No problem with this signing, with the best will in the world that we have got the contract right based on appearances and conduct. Unlike say Webster where his contract is not conditional and he is unjured more than me!
I KNOW the Castleford public will treat the guy accordingly, this is one of the situations where those watching on can actually make a difference to something on the field. We have had players at Cas before, emotional players who you can boo out of a game and WE have done that to our own.
I am not saying we have to over praise, but we know what we can do.
On his game, he can play 10 years as a first choice half in a serious NRL outfit, so I am going to focus on that. There are about 5 or 6 people in the world where if you signed them to replace Rangi Chase, you wouldn't be thinking you had lost something, so we were always going to need to change.
As an alternate view, MAYBE: Rangi Chase was amazing and Man of Steel for one season, sulked and was patchy in another and was good this season, but not Dream Team good or MOS contender good. Rangi hasn't got a single full top flight season in the NRL and is only here becuase he couldn't depose the likes of Brett Seymour.
Appreciate time passes, things change and form changes, but there are always ways to see it being half full, as opposed to half empty. I like those people with something to prove and who have a hunger to put things right it tends to make them more dangerous and apply more honest effort. Granted, sometimes it goes wrong, but I think in this case, it is worth a shot.

| Great signing for you and I would have been happy for him to sign for Wakey. I don't think Cas fans need to take the high ground on how the Hull fans were with him, all fans at all clubs can be similar and Ellis has been hammered on here and no one know if he is depressed leading to poor form.
Tim Smith had issues when he joined us and was a risk and had been released by Wigan. Cas and Wakey will never get top players on the top of their game due to money. So a top player that has some risk attached might be a gamble but sometimes you win sometimes you loss. Rangi was a risk Paul Newlove was a risk.
But all in all as a Wakey fan feel that you team are shaping up better than us. I think Ellis will be a lot better player next year as even though Rangi is special he does demand the ball and play to go through him. With a fair share of the play him could show what he can do.
I don't claim as some Wakefield fans do to know everything about you so appologies in advance if some of my views are off the mark.

Thanks for that.
I am looking forward to seeing Brett in the Cas colours next year. He will get the same support as all others who have wore the black and amber. I trust Powell's judgement in what will be a monumentous year for the Tigers.

| like ive stated on other posts, darryl powell is no mug and knows how to get the best out of his players, hes also very face to face and gets close with his players which is a very good point to have, ive never heard a bad word said about powell where as other coaches i have, noble millward mcrea etc they are good talkers and walked into teams that were already the best in the league, but when they tried other coaching jobs this is where they started getting slated by other players about their coaching styles.
Seymour is a quality player and had a bad time at hull and his problems went unnoticed by those who seen him everyday says a lot really.
powell will have cas ticking he knows the right players to sign, look at what he did at featherstone with limited resources and funds, he had no major signings like leigh halifax etc but had the team playing well and enjoying their rugby and for me a team thats enjoying playing for someone and eachother will prove successful, mark my words cas will be nowhere like the cas youve seen this season they will be up there. like ive stated id of rather signed powell as coach before rangi chase .

| Well with a one year deal he will want to impress, and with Dorn as back up if the wheels come off guess he is worth a punt.
Nice to see a bit of squad depth at Cas for next season.

Speaking of which. In the halves we have Ellis, Dorn, Seymour & Sneyd. Good depth and experience.
Need to begin signing a few forwards now
