I find it hard to believe he'd take it, rumoured to have a dislike for the club....unless we bring people in who he has worked under before...Mal Reilly at international level?

Actually it goes back to when Powell was playing amateur at Redhill and about to turn pro, Cas messed him about and took the offer to sign for Hetherington at Sheffield, he wasn't happy with Cas at all....given that Powell's girlfriend (now wife)told my sister this id say there's some truth in it. He may feel different now though....

John Kear is without doubt the coach you need short term, say a two years deal. He will get the basics sorted. I think JK's ability as a long term coach are probably gone now, he's had his chances but he's a bit long in the tooth now to really step outside the box. He has a weakness where younger players are concerned and is never sure of his best team when all is going well. However backs to the wall he is your man.

The fact he's a Cas lad is by the way utterly meaningless IMHO.

Whether you could coax him out of semi retirement I'm not sure but it would be tempting for him. That said JK was never keen on the Cas BOD long before all this started.

It's a tricky one but IMHO Powell is a Championship Coach however I think his local knowledge would be of far more use than any Aussie for now.

Anyway who knows this may be your low point and Mildrid will come good, it does happen.

" IF" Daryl Powell was ever actually offered the job as head coach of the Tigers then I would take him without a doubt as i believe that he is the man to move your club forward

Never thought I would have said this this but - its time to bring John Kear in. Give him until the end of the year and see if he can salvage anything from this shipwreck of a season.

I'm not sure the Cas job would be attractive to any proven coach except one looking for a final pre-retirement pay day. DP is nicely placed at Fev to bide his time for a return to SL at a club with better prospects than ours and that may include his present employers. As we lurch from one embarrassing setback to another we would do well to remember that the SL license of a failing club may be revoked 'mid-term' and currently you could be forgiven for thinking our BOD accept that will be our fate at the end of this season. So DP might not even have to wait long or move anywhere for another shot at the big league.

I think Kear would make a big difference to you guys,, your backs and hooker seemed lively and of course Chase has the quality but you had no leadership or discipline. You just seemed incapable of doing the hard work in attack and defence. Kear would sort that.
