| Ian is a quality coach with a proven record of success. Is an average club like Castleford really going to attract someone better?? No.
Look a the constant diet of trophies he had at St Helens. If that isn't a man with top class credentials then I don't know what is.
Millward is a winner and will do a good job with the Tigers. But given his standing in English RL with the success he's had previously, he may feel he should be at a bigger and better club than Cas.
Be careful what you wish for.

| I'd have TM back in a heartbeat over Millward. Players who signed big contracts last year now want out, every team in the league (bar salford and catalan) have put 40 on us at least once, our defence has got worse, our attack is flatter then ever. Not that he has a large choice, but his selections at times are bewildering. And the good thing is, Stephen Nash still has ANOTHER year on his contract as Basil authorised his pal from Leigh a 2 year deal!

| IM has tried to change to training schedule at Cas Tigers. Under TM the players started at 11 and were on their way home (or in the bookies) at 2 o'clock. IM has them in at 7 for a 8 hour training session and they don't like it (ie Mathers). Those that don't like this new regime are on their way out for 2013.
My patience is running out with CT at the moment but I am willing to give the coaching staff a chance for next season. If the players who are staying with us next year do not respond to IM's way a coaching then there is only one alternative and thats getting rid of the coach unfortunately.
Steve Ferres has stated recently that the job is performance related and IM knows that only too well. If we don't perform he will be going.

| Ian Millward is a winner (debunked)
Wigan3
North Queensland2
Castleford6
11 wins in 52 games, 21.2%
If you add in his record with Leigh last season that goes to 40.3%
Were Wigan & North Queensland average sides? No. St Helens had by far & away the best squad in the league, that's why he won - not because of his ability.
Now can people please stop peddling the myth that Ian Millward is a good coach because the facts clearly show he is not.

Rubbish, Mathers didn't even get the chance, Millward told him to get lost the second he turned up for training on day 1.

His training regime doesn't seem to have reaped the rewards this season has it?

Certainly not. If you are not enjoying it (the training) you get exactly what we are been served up this season - garbage. If training is not varied you are also not going to get any reaction from the players.
IM seems to be a coach very much in the "my way or the by-way" mould.

You'd be a Wigan fan then and not a Leigh fan (where he was successful twice) or a Saints fan.
Daniel Anderson came to Saints having been fired because apparently all the players complained about him. Anderson was our most successful coach and left with a lot of goodwill (that he maintained and enjoyed on his recent trip back to blighty). Anderson left Saints and took up a coaching position with Paramatta Eels, his home town club. In the first season he got the Eels to the NRL Grand Final, which they lost. In the second season they came bottom of the league. He was fired among rumours of guess what? The players complaining about him.
So which is Daniel Anderson? A great coach or a bad one?
Which is Ian Millward? A great coach or a bad one?
I would suggest that, just as with any other teacher the answer to the question will depend upon the student you ask.

Well the stats show Millward to be a poor coach, even if you take out the best and worst to get a fair average it comes out well below average.
He's failed more often than he's succeeded, that says a lot to me.

| He's had all season to improve performances, and we have steadily got worse. If I was the Chairman I wouldn't let him run a bath, yet alone my rugby team.

Have you just made that up or what - no issues with Mathers at any other club as regards training times. I'm fairly sure Wakefield have a similar regime to that.
I was wined and dined at BV he other week and arrived at 12.30. Mathers was the first player to turn up 3 hours before kick off, so doesn't strike me as tardy with his time keeping.
Are you seriously suggesting that he left over that, jeez. I suspect he left because Mildrid simply didn't rate him and to be fair you have a better FB with Owen when he's not trying to be a tough guy.

| Brucie is correct as Millward needs time for his team to gel and injuries have not helped. The Rangi Chase thing has probably effected the dressing room.Once he has gone you will see next year Millward is a quality coach. They must like him as you have signed 6 new players of quality next year.

No he isn't.
He also lost the dressing room with the way he treated Mathers, nothing to do with Chase etc, who all wanted (see past tense) to leave because of Millward but Ferres has made it clear what he has to do at the start of next season or he will be gone.
On the note of Chase - both himself and the directors have supposedly said he is in fact going nowhere.

As I've told you before, having heard Richard's side of the story from the man himself - I'm going with what he said over the crap peddled by the club that you've bought hook, line & sinker.
He really didn't enamour himself to the squad well getting rid of one of the most popular members of the squad in the way he went about doing it and if you can't see the players resentment of Millward in the way they play then you're blind or simply choosing to ignore it because nothing bad ever happens with the club in your precious little bubble.
