Cas season is well and truely over, just two games left of any significance. Widnes home and away. Losers will be wooden spoonists. Who can we beat salford, London wakey at home, maybe, but not consistant enough to to say yes.
Season has gone I am afraid.

At least with Terry matterson we were scoring points (except warrington away ha ha). We cant even score now, poor defence, non existant attack, how many times have we camped on opponents lines and not scored. St helens at home, Fev away, apparently at warrington but i find that hard to believe.

I wouldn't go as far as saying that..apart from the top 5/6 sides all of the rest are poor teams as well.
we're better than the likes of Wakefield, Widnes and Salford and well Hull Kr didn't look a good team at all when they came down the lane.
so really I wouldn't worry too much, we all expected a result to this extent I imagine away at Warrington with how we've been playing.

What a load of gash!! you need to man up scabby!!
Any team on its day can give any other team a game, you just need a bit of luck and everything to click.
You've still not got over the Fev loss, and your still in panic mode.
Can't believe a Wakey fan has to gee up a Cas one!!!

That isn't, and never was, going to happen this season. A more realistic aim is to finish top of the also-ran league also featuring Widnes, London and maybe Salford (they at least show fleeting glimpses of quality). If Wakey, and more particularly Agar, ever learn how to sustain momentum they will break well clear of the rest of us. Finishing bottom is not an option for the likes of Cas when there is no longer a cast iron guarentee of the full 3 year license. At least in that respect the season is far from over.

In terms of a top 8 spot, or putting it differently Cas having a competitive, middle of the table team...

Every season for goodness knows how many years, we are told that 'this year' is just a building year, and that within the next year or two we want to be a solid top 8 or top 6 without question. If the past 4 or 5 years weren't the year, and this one also isn't...how do we know which one will be?

How realistic do you think Castleford's chances are of becoming a consistent top 6-8 club are, honestly?
There are many factors that go against you, and if the club spat them all out they would alienate or depress half your support.
Look at the clubs in the top eight on a regular basis, or more so the top six (eighth is a lottery but nobody consistently gets in).
They all either have larger income streams, benefactors or are in a much larger geographic area than Castleford and this is hugely important. I would argue that they all may well be run better (one of the benefits of higher income is that you can spend money on making more money) which not only increases income but cuts losses too.
Before anyone jumps on me, i would argue that wakefield is in a similar boat, we have a larger geographic catchment than castleford, but we in the past have done much to alienate that in the past.
If the clubs were honest they would say without a huge shift in our fortunes, it is a huge ask to get into the top eight with any consistency, and generic growth in that direction is an impossibility as the other clubs grow stronger quicker.
Getting a new ground will help both clubs, as it will increase income streams and create some local interest as well as encourage more away supporters to come, sharing one would be even better from a financial point (and thats what we are talking about) though possibly not from a RL point (and that matters less these days) certainly not for us.
Getting additional income through commercial activity of benefactors, also is helped by getting the ground issue sorted and is a huge step on the way to make quick ground on the big clubs and hopefully brings additional income too.
Geography, castleford can't do much about, the only way is a merger between all three clubs as a SL club and with the original teams playing in the lower leagues.
There! thats my synopsis.

The main difference between Cas's and Wakey's projects is ownership. Wakey will be paying a rent and Cas will have to pay for the stadium up-keep.

You sound like you want CT to share at NM Kinleycat ? Share the costs ?

The ground issue ownership, i dont know if that makes a difference, as i dont know if owning or renting is more cost effective. Looking at the amount of clubs in rented grounds may make it appear more cost effective, but is that just because they dont have the ££££ to buy one? i dont know.
Im sure it will bring both clubs additional income streams so that is the positive in it.
Undoubtably two clubs sharing one ground has got to make financial sense, it just has.
The risk to us all is that, we dont want to run the risk of losing our own clubs identities, 100% understandable, however unless there is a huge shift in fortunes for one or both of us (and i'm not saying its impossible) our struggles will continue.
IMO a representative SL club is he way forward supported by the whole area, and when that team is not playing we can support our teams in the championship or championship 1.
The best local junior players coming through to SL level, with a smattering of the best International talent and the chance for those local juniors to be blooded first in the lower leagues.
It makes some sense, from a financial and a RL point of view, it may also harmonise the community a bit and spare some of us our sanity too.

I really like this idea

My main objection to the original Calder plan was that our three great clubs would cease to exist, but this gives us the best of all worlds.

Ownership of the SL club should be split equally three ways, with us each acting as a feeder club to the regional SL side.

What would you call the team? I like 5 Towns RLFC

Where would you build the stadium? Glasshoughton seems like the ideal place, it having the best transport links and being roughly in the middle of the major population centres.

It'll never happen of course, but it's something that I would support 100%

Nah - Newmarket is equidistant between Castleford and Wakefield - it's a much better location.

And therein lies the problem!

Newmarket is NOT equidistant between Castleford and Wakefield and whether it's "a much better location" is debatable. You having a laugh Bren2K surely?
NM is OK if you like walking the dogs or even a bit of "stobart spotting" before you go to a game - there's nowt there.

I think GH is the perfect location and although it would never happen,I think the area would have one of the best teams in Sl.
