We all know now that Widnes have been granted a license for superleague but reading this Halifax wouldn't be an option even if RFL are looking to add another team.
But the reigning Co-operative Championship champions will get a second chance when the final make up of the competition is announced in July after being told they do meet the criteria for membership of the top flight.

Surely they cannot demote a second superleague team on this basis.

| Surely Halifax will now have to meet the harder criteria SL teams have to meet? And not the pathetic Championship criteria of 2500 average attendance, 1m turnover etc?

Compare Fax now with us in NL1 would they even compete with that? I doubt it, so how will they compete now?
There is a strong suggestion that Fax failed because of the lack of youth development so demoting us would be laughable.

| The whole idea of promoting Widnes into Super League 4 months before the current clubs find out who is to be demoted is surely to allow them time to build a good team to compete in the league, even though it is supposedly illegal to approach players before September.
However, this concept of Halifax going into the hat along with all current clubs (Minus Widnes) for the other 13 spots is surely just a smokescreen to keep current clubs on their toes.
If it isn't, why promote a team so early (Widnes), to give them a much needed advantage in player recruitment so they can at least compete with the current clubs, if they are then going to add another team (Halifax) 4 months later without the same amount of time to build a squad, it makes no sense.
But this is the RFL so anything is possible.

Those are the criteria a club needs, in order to be considered. They're not the criteria to cross the winning line. Or at least that's how I understand it.

| i dont see where halifax have a chance of coming up,if they did it would meen 3 super league teams within close proximety "hudds, fax, bradford" whilst the league wouldnt have a representative from the wakefield district which of course is one rl`s hotbeds of not only fans but junior talent, whilst the hetheringtons would love a big void between leeds and hull this wont happen and it will be straight call for the chop cas or wakey.imho on the information we have we have a stronger case than wakefield but only marginally and the adminstration for wakefield and out A1 development programme will see us given the nod.

So what your saying is, just because Hudds, and Bradford are there means we cant come up/
those 2 are never going to get kicked out so does that mean we will never get back in ever again until this franchise rubbish ends??

imho yes,not my choice but where you are on the map seems to be the biggest clue to any clubs hopes and 3 teams in super league from the same area doesnt fit in with the rfl`s expansion plan neither does 2 clubs from the wakefield district.

| How can you compare a Championship club with Super League club and now suggest we have to meet the superleague criteria. If you listened to the announcement the RL confirmed we have met the required criteria as outlined by the RL which is more than what you lot have over the last three years. I wonder if you lost your licence what your attendance etc would be certainly no where near what it is now, except possibly derby day when you play Wakey !!!
I bet some of the Superleague are pretty worried about the 26th July !!!!

| I personally think it's very worrying that they have come out and said publicly that Fax meet all the criteria.
If this is the case how will they justify not allowing them in, in July when without a stadium we don't meet all the criteria?
Im not saying we should go as Crusaders should be miles ahead of us for the chop but lets face it, the next club after Wakey they will look to chop is Cas whether its fair or not.
If there isn't something concrete in place for the stadium it could be bad news in July.
Can anyone imagine what a farce it would be if we make the Playoffs knowing we are relegated after them? Then again its just as idiotic as a team finishing 6th, 4th and 5th in the Division below, not winning anything and getting promoted. What a farce.

| I think if you check back when cas were relegated we still averaged around the 5k mark, and at the time we were having larger crowds than some of the super league clubs. What are you attendance figures?

You do know in every single facet, Cas beat Halifax hands down, as does every other team in Super League?
In fact, Rimmer gave it way on B&A and said "Halifax & Barrow will be in the Championship again next year"
