| Honestly who rates this guy? He gives away countless penalties, his defense his horrendous and you can pretty much guarentee a perfect pass to the opposition at some point in a game.
Everyone wants blood from Matterson. Sherwin has gone now, but was constantly abused. This guy gets paid s**t loads and he''s the biggest liability in a cas shirt. How he manages to always escape the net of criticism is beyond me.

your wasteing your time putting posts like that on here mate, unfortunatly i think the majority of cas fans think he is great for some reason and just keep putting his horror shows down to either trying too hard or being played out of position every week. this does not count for me though, the sooner he is shown the door the better and with a bit of luck he will take his bench warming mate sargent with him.

| I think you'll find a lot of fans are now turning against him.
Imo he had a terribe game yesterday, though in saying that he as had a decent season up to yesterday.
I'm one of his biggest fans but even i can now see the best thing for the team would be for ryan to be rested and give thompson a chance at full back.
Doubt that will happen as TM seems to rate him highly.

| I couldn't get to the game yesterday but talking to my Grandad last night he expressed particular frustration in McGoldrick's performance at times. One example he gave was in attack when Ryan had options for a kicks and for short balls, but instead elected to throw a long lobbed pass which was intercepted. This strikes me as poor decision making, which you can accept on rare occasions, but this does seem to happen rather more frequently than we should be comfortable with.

Yes he does make some stupid mistakes but who doesn’t.
Unfortunately most of the quality passes you speak of, more often, benefit the opposition. This is not simply a vent after yesterdays display but against his performances all season.
I do not wish to anger you and I do agree that people make mistakes. My initial argument was that he has dropped more than his fair share of clangers this year and this seems to get overlooked. TM and shifty not so lucky. Maybe he is playing out of position and maybe it's TM's fault for playing him at fullback. I just feel that catching tackling and passing was a basic requirement of a pro rugby player, irrespective where you play!

| Yes that was a bad option and he did that because Tuson over ran the ball on the second tackle, But if the pass had came off it was a defiantly a try, so he would of been the best player in the world.
Their is no pleasing some of our fans, I hear it all the time in the stands one minute the team are brill the next there not fit to wear the shirt, some of the fans have never played rugby so can't appreciate how difficult the game is,
I am not saying he is the best player but he has been ever present in the team, I would say he has been our best player all season.

| One of the worst displays by a Cas full-back I've ever witnessed.
What makes it more galling is Matterson publicly criticising Thompson for 'flattened performances'. I wont hold my breath in anticipation of him saying anything negative about Goldy, or for that matter his other waste of space countryman.

100% agree with you mate it's just a matter of opinion. We could have scored a try with that pass .. my opinion was that whilst we could have, 6 points up and making inroads in to the Hull defense, maybe a speculative pass such as that should be left to someone with a better % history of finding a cas player lol
Despite the loss, enjoyed the match yesterday thought it was a great atmosphere and got a groovy tan so

Yeah i agree he did not need to throw that pass at all because we was winning at the time and did not need to force the play, should ov put more pressure on them.
But yeah i was a very good atmosphere, shame it looked like it was a hull home game.

| It seems that the majority of games this season, all i seem to be doing is screaming at Ryan for doing things a pro rugby player shouldn't be doing. At full back he constantly lets the ball bounce, and if he does get underneath the ball he still somehow doesn't catch it and let's it bounce. He misses tackle after tackle and doesn't make the last desperation tackle a full back should be doing. If he comes into the line, or plays at half back you can guarantee a couple of stupid passes with one at least always resulting in a full length try for the opposition. Plus it seems again we're seeing that awful discipline he often has keeping into his game. The opposition only has to laugh at him and he starts pushing and shoving players, giving penalties away for no reason but us under more pressure.
There is no doubt he can provide that quality pass, he did so yesterday and has done before. Last season against Saints at home when they ripped us to shreds, he was our one spark of quality and set up all our tries. Maybe just maybe he's nothing more than a good centre and should have been played in that position every game since we signed him. I'd play him at centre or get rid because he isn't a SL player in any other position.
