| So no move to Hull for Rangi. However, I believe it was confirmed last night that St George have put in an offer for him and here's Rangi's view
rlLinkyrl
I would be really disappointed to see him go, IMO he still has a lot to offer to our squad and someone I would have liked to have seen a squad built around. We need to be retaining players of his calibre not letting them go
After hearing some of the stuff about last nights meeting that we're strapped for cash and lost nearly £1m in 3 years I can understand the club would want to offload the top earners, especially if we could command a transfer fee in with the deal.
Although another thing from last nights meeting being that we're nearly up to the salary cap shows that some of our new members are being well overpaid

How do you know it is our new players who are being overpaid? I think Rangi, Richard Owen and Daryl Clark will be on a few bob between the three of them. Although, I do not think we have a squad that represents £1.4m per year in wages and feel that we need to be a bit more savvy with our budget in the coming year(s). What will happen to the two players IM was hoping to sign from Australia? Have these already been signed up and were included in the squad number of 24 mentioned last night?

The squad of 24 is this (less Mitchell, Nash and Mathers) :-

No one else coming in unless we off-load Rangi and bring in 2 or 3 with the money. This could happen if St George is his destination.

Mainly because I can't see Shenton, Webster, Gilmour, Carney or Hauraki playing for peanuts. I agree that Rangi etc will be on high wages but I still feel we are probably over paying the new signings, especially IMO Gilmour

| Maybe the last minute marriage was to get her a visa for Oz, not to get him a visa for Hull

Neither can I but McGoldrick, Hudson, Orr, Mathers, Ferres, etc weren't on peanuts either. Surely the 12 outgoing players could be replaced with 9 incoming players. We have 7 so far and I think we're lacking another 2 big forwards (would of liked Rhys Williams / Jamie Foster alsi but I'm just been greedy now).

As was stated last night that goes to show the salaries that the new guys are on! 12 Out and 7 In doesn't take a genius to work out that we're paying more/the same to the seven than/as we did to the 12 combined.
The feeling I got from last night was Basil wouldn't necessarily have been Ferres' first choice. But he's here and we're being promised that as soon as Basill knows what the BOD demand from next season we too will be told!

They'd been engaged for nearly a year so hardly "last minute".

Now Now Gronk, you must know by now that a year will never quieten the conspiracy theorists.

Yes they had been engaged a year - however it was done mid-week with only 6 people there and majority of their friends knew nothing about it.
Conspiricy theorist or not, it does seem a little strange it was all done hush hush considering how religious Rangi's family is

Sounds a bit early to be predicting that? There are a few clubs with money issues and long term viability issues.
What would you say is the benchmark for keeping his job at Cas??
If it's top 8 and lets say Hull KR, Salford have been tipped as having finance issues too, Widnes finished last this year and London don't have the fans, Bradford are going to get less from Sky and I think have said that they can't run at fullcap just yet, so there are at least 4 clubs in similar to worse situations than Cas.
When Millward went back to Leigh I don't think he turned it around in the first year, so who knows what 2013 will hold.

I don't expect us to finish in the top 8 next season and this should not be used as a yardstick for Millward keeping his job. Now that he has pruned the squad to his own liking as long as each match is played with pride in the jersey and no slackers i think he should be given the whole season to mould his team.
