waiting for planning permisssion from the council for the super market to get the go ahead why isnt cas levelling the ground at glasshoughton so we are showing the rfl its not just a flash in the pan and we mean business

probably because we played that joker last time, i see we have a Morrisons store opening in Cas soon could be too much competition for Tesco/Sainsbury's.

Plus it doesnt matter to us whether Opus get a supermarket chain for the development or not. All that matters to us is if we get planning permission for the development.

I think people need to be aware of what stage the club are at with the sale/development of wheldon rd.
Cas have enlisted the help of a company (opus) to try and secure planning and market the development/site to the supermarket industry.
No plans are in place or lodged and there is no current interest from any supermarket chain with regard to buying the land.
the whole 50million quid talk is pure speculation and spin.

Its similar to me saying to an estate agent "ive got this land with no planning permission , get me £50million for it "

The £50m is the cost of the WHOLE project including stadium at Glasshoughton not speculation or spin.

As for no Supermarket being interested, there's 2 actually icon_wink.gif Although that doesn't matter because once OPUS have planning permission they will be handing over the cheque to Cas for the price of the land (enough to cover the entire stadium build and a bit more).

PP won't be straightforward! Asda will object, town centre shops may object, Highways Agency will object (though their's will perhaps be relatively easy to accommodate), and local residents may object.

Could even go to PI.

Thought it was a depot not an actual supermarket.
Thats what i heard....could be wrong.

I can't imagine a town-centre depot, when Castleford, and indeed the planned Newmarket warehousing site, sits on the crossroads of the major North-South/East West road networks.
