I cant say that I hate Phil Clarke but I think that I understand how he can grate on some people ("some people" being any supporter of anyone playing Wigan) Casting my mind back I recall him squirming uncontrollably when a recently promoted Cas were wiping the floor with Wigan at Wigan while Eddie and Stevo gave Cas no credit and went on about "poor old Wigan".
But lets give the guy credit standing up for Cas when it was anounced officially that Wigan had breached the salary cap and Eddie was telling Cas directly through the TV to let it rest and forget about it as it was done and dusted Phil Clarke would not compromise just because this was the team he loved and tore up Eddie's narrative to berate Wigan and would not let it rest! So while he sometimes shows his true colours he actually adds quite a bit to what can sometimes be a one sided debate with the rest of the sky team and has some good ideas about the sport.

Whenever I think of Phil ("whoops, butterfingers"icon_wink.gif Clarke, I always think of him dropping the ball in the 1995 World Cup Final after the Aussies kicked off following Goulding's opening score. That single moment seemed to knock the stuffing out of the England side and TBH the bloke's had that incident to live down ever since.

Phil Clarke doesn't deserve the amount of flak he's taking when he just said what a lot of people were thinking. I'm sorry McGuire got injured but he was attempting to hold on to a support runner to prevent a try scoring opportunity. If you look closely he stood on the back of the Wigan players foot and this caused him to hyperextend his leg and thus blowing his knee out.

I think Phil's point was that if McGuire hadn't attempted this act then the injury would not have happened, bad karma some say.

No doubt the Leeds fans will use Phil as a scapegoat, what's the betting on when the Clarky is a banker chants start. Phil should turn up in a Leeds shirt, on crutches, with McGuire on the back lol

I've no problem with Phil Clarke, always found him supportive of, and complimentary to, Cas......just about the only one in the media who is. God forbid that we be left to the mercy of Hemmings/Stephenson and their bias towards the 'friends of SKY' as manifest by their shameless PR jobs for HKR, Salford, Wakey and anybody who their other pet-coach, Brian Noble, happens to be working for.

he may chat some utter tosh at times, but to be fair (despite his at times frustrating commentery) he does give good insight and at least (unlike eddie) some in game knowledge. He also doesnt refuse fans when they ask to shake his hand, fair plays to the man

clarke and carney are the best on there imo - stevo talks rubbish to create interest/debate thats what they tell him to do, eddie is the straight guy who sits on the fence and offers both sides of the coin.
