The more interesting bits for me were the other parts of the article: "still hoping to re-sign Wainwright as well" which surprises me with Dixon still here and Owen back, no new centre coming in (I have always suspected that with our glut of second rows we'd see Ferres starting at '3' next year and he seems to confirm that the Fozzard rumours are correct.
It's a tricky one with Wainwright because he does a shedload of work, is usually very reliable and has a lot of heart. But you don't see him as someone that will turn or win a match with one moment of skill. Youngquest on the other hand has that 'X' factor that pace brings and may just snatch a length of the pitch try.
Hopefully this link will work:
www.superleague.co.uk/statistics ... eason=2010
Shows MW to be a bit more solid (fewer misses & fewer errors) while NY is more of a threat going forward (more carries, more metres, over double the number of clean breaks, 4x the number of offloads).
With Owen on the other flank we'd have two fliers though would miss Dixon's aerial threat. It'll be interesting to see how Terry fits them all in.

Would be very happy if wainwright re-signs good back up player that wont let us down when injuries hit (ala this year).
Not so sure on youngquest, seems to be a bit fo a brainfart sort of player when i've seen him and the crusaders fan seem to think so too. Good pace and decent in attack but poor in defence when i have seen him, sort of like an aussie ainscough.
Centres we have evans, arundel, mcgoldrick, thompson, widders and ferres who can all play there so we are well covered.
looks to me with the last qouta spot going that we arent getting a halfback in, with mcgoldrick moving there, which is a mistake imo as he is much better at fullback. But at least the halfs look to be better covered this year (chase, orr, mcgoldrick, thompson, widders, brierly) as does hooker (chase, orr, hudson, milner, clarke, jones).
If we do sign emmit and fozzard we will be well covered at prop. Second row looks pretty good with ferres, snitch, widders, jones, holmes and davies.
Going to be interesting seeing how tm fits them all in.
My prefered team for next year (though theres no chance terry will go for it)
goldy
owen
evans
arundel
dixon
chase
orr
fozzard
hudson
huby
snitch
ferres
westy
widders
jackson
higgins/walker/emmit
milner

I think evans and arundel are both better centres than the two you have put there, though thats not to say tm will agree with me.

Definatly stu, thinking of all the possible team combinations makes a nice change to thinking 'oh bugger he's injured, who's gonna play there now?'
We may actually go into this season with a bit of depth.

| Why do we want Fozzard, he is well past his sell by date. Bradford have proved has beens don't work.

| Certainly a stronger looking squad emerging than what we've had this season, I can see Owen playing centre rather than wing, I would hope that Danny spends a fair amount of time on the pitch for his kicking game and organisational abilities, so would like see him playing half back, not sure where Goldy comes in the equation, he's an excellent centre but TM has hardly ever played him there, maybe he will play him at loose forward.
Was hoping for Elima rather than Fozzard, but if we can keep him fit then he can definitely do a job for us.

46042.jpg [quote="Bonzo":23qz4bj5]Corrected.
Incidentally, an exclamation mark ends a sentence and does not require a full stop. The first letter of the next word begins a new sentence and should therefore be capitalised. [i:23qz4bj5]Who needs flankers[/i:23qz4bj5]' grammar was actually correct.
HTH.

If you expect a prop over the age of 30 to play every week then you are gonna get bitten on the backside. It's never gonna happen, but if you have 5 or 6 props and rotate them it will work very well. If we sign Fozz and Emmit and lose Higgins, we will have 6 props, even if Fozz isnt playing, Walker, Emitt and Massey will still be learning from one of the best props from the past 10 years. I think its a good move.

I'm of the opinion that you need 6 props (2 start, 2 bench, two reserve)
fozzard
huby
jackson
walker
higgins
emitt
Would be what i would go with, i hope he proves me wrong but whenever i see massey play he just seems to offer nothing.

| Wikipedia claims he will almost certainly be going to Wigan next year. So now we know he definately isn't going to Wigan next year.

| Seems to me that the simple solution is to move Dixon to centre as a replacement for Shenny.
Mathers
Youngquest
Evans
Dixon
Owen
McGoldrick
Chase
Huby
Hudson
Jackson
Snitch
Ferres
Westerman
Bench: Jones, Widders, Walker, Orr
