23517.gif George Bush says 'we are losing the war on drugs'. Well you know what that implies? There's a war going on, and people on drugs are winning it! Well what does that tell you about drugs? Some smart, creative motherfookers on that side.":23517.gif |

| I would like to see the RFL build a stadium in the middle of a recession that has hit the building industry particularly hard. They really are numpties. Poor Wakie are trying hard, but got dumped on by the council.
It would appear we are now making good progress.
I also like how Saints and Celtic don't get a reminder, when unless I am gorcely mistaken are in exactly the same boat as us. It makes a mockery of the whole system, and the RFL make a mockery out of Rugby League.

Saints are at the stage where pretty much everything else is in place, they have opened things up for applications for tender a process which should be complete in the next month and then building work started before the end of the year. From what I can tell no other clubs are that advanced in the process yet?
And as for Celtic the article makes it pretty clear that is due to the fact they have plans to play elsewhere next season.

| But still, the RFL should send those two a reminder also. Because neither side has anything "concrete" and since the RFL have reminded Cas, Wakey and Salford then they should remind the other two.

Plans are plans, and thats all they are, we have plans to build a stadium don't we? I have plans to bagpipe Harry Gration, doesn't mean it will happen. Although Harry said it isn't totally opposed to the idea. But I would have to buy him a meal first. From a propper restraunt, none of this chain pub food. He said he hates that 5h1te.

And from a Saints POV we are in a lucky position where realistically we aren't as reliant on the ground as a lot of other clubs simply because overall we will score more points in most of the other areas than most other clubs in need of a new ground would so perhaps thats why they weren't warned there application was in jeopardy as its not seen as as urgent for them to survive.
There again is there much point in these warnings anyway? What exactly does it tell clubs they didn't already know?

| Having just reread the article it does state
"The three clubs are among five who have been written to by the Rugby Football League reminding them of their responsibilities under the licensing agreement.
Current Super League leaders St Helens and newcomers Celtic Crusaders have also been told their present homes do not match requirements but both those clubs are almost certain to be playing elsewhere by 2012"

We have got a reminder. All five have. It's just that our plans are further down the road than yours, Wakey's and Salfords, and Celtic are looking at a move to a bigger shared ground with better facilities (which I think is what was included in their licence application) so we aren't seen as in exactly the same boat as you.
However, we [iare[/i in a similar boat as you because we have to get our stadium up to standard. We are all keeping everything crossed that Taylor Wimpey don't go belly up, as they came close to doing in Jan/Feb this year. As is they are complaining about the money they are due to give us for Knowsley Road - the sum was agreed when the value of land was higher. So they are squealing. But we are going ahead anyway. We hope to be putting the main building work out to tender next month or September, with building work beginning in December of this year. The new site has already been largely cleared (but poor old Salford got to that stage and then it all collapsed).
It's all touch and go and if Taylor Wimpey goes down then so does the project .... and, so do we.

| i think we have just had the first insight into who maybe on the rfl`s wish list to go,im confident that we will have at the very least a stadium thats under construction by the time the next franchises are handed over and i hope wakefield are a step closer too, however i have serious doubts about salford ever getting a stadium but they can always fall on the word manchester and it will be overlooked.
the clocks ticking mr.wright dont give them an opportunity to kick us out.

If they want to kick us out they'll find an excuse to do so believe me.
