Quote: " “I approached Steve McNamara and explained that I wanted to play for England and more importantly show my commitment. England, and in particular Castleford, is my home now and I want to lay my long-term roots here. I have an English girlfriend and signing a new contract with Castleford, last week, was a big deal for me. I don’t want to play anywhere else.

“I have resurrected my life in England and feel more at ease here than anywhere else in the world. I spend all my time at home and don’t go back to New Zealand in the off season.

“Getting selected for England will be my greatest honour. You can feel there is something special being built and I want to do everything I can to help England achieve international success.”'"

6. Chase
7. Brough
9. Roby
13. Sinfield

That sounds good to me.

I'd have O'Loughlin, Westerman and even Ben Harrison before Sinfield @ 13
Great Super league player that Sinfield is i just don't rate him at International level, time for a change

In the halves add in Widdop, Lomax, Gaskell etc and we have some great youngsters to choose from

Sinfield has been played out of position a lot at international level going in at standoff. Westy is in the Knights set up and Harrison hasn't been getting a game at Warrington.

At international level, the lack of kicking game has killed us year after year. Chase at 6, Brough at 7 and Sinfield at 13, for once we have another game plan apart from up the middle and see if the pack can get on top. k020.gif

Are you for real? Sinfield is twice as good as any 13 in this country. Didnt even realise O'loughlin was playing the other night he was that quiet against saints. He would do nothing against aussies. Every england game ive been to and watched us get pumped by australia, Sinfield is one of only a few players ive felt could leave the field with his head held high. Even getting played out of position at hooker at aussies at elland road d040.gif.

Just my opinion, look at the Aussies Gallen, Stewart are their loose forwards - tackling machines
My 4 nations team would be:
Tomkins, Foster, Shenton, Atkins, Hall, Widdop, Brough, Graham, Roby, Peacock, Ellis, Westwood, O'Loughlin
Subs: Chase, Heighington, Tomkins & Morley

Although Bridge & Reed are lively contenders for the centre spots

I honestly respect your opinion, and fighting fire with fire may be the answer. And that is a great side you have picked, but for me it would be
Tompkins,Charnley,Bridge,Atkins,Hall,Widdop,Brough,Graham,Roby,Peacock,Westwood,Heighington,Sinfield
subs- Carvell,Tomkins,Crabtree,Robinson
think ellis is injured, hope ive heard wrong though.

Good job you aren't picking the team then, those wingers would be embarrassing against the Aussies, it has to be Briscoe & Charnley.

Got to say, much as I want to berate him because he doesn't play for Cas, he is an amazing ambassador for the sport, he is always gracious and magnanimous in defeat which is easy but also in victory which is much more difficult, I can't recall anything cheap in values or behaviours from him and he is one of the best and most dependable in his position.
What I really like about him is he doesn’t celebrate his own kicks or contributions as a lot of good players do, because it is not an individual sport, he merely seems to be one of those people who does his job and when they win games and big games; it is because everyone did their job and if they don’t win, he resolves to work harder.

A proper pro- If I wasn't happily married I would think I had a man crush.

Don't want to pick on any individuals, but power and pace in the outside backs is vital, not just going forward. If you saw the NRL GF this weekend, any missed 1 on 1 or where you don't trap the ball or allow any players to effect a play post line and you are going to be in strife if I am honest, especially in the outside channels..... I don't want us to play a negative game, but every shot and 1 on 1 has got to stick.

The thing that really pee'd me off watching eng-aus last year was Atkins. Hes ok scraging young players week in and dominating other centres through his power, and scoring boat load of tries. Getting piggy backed down field by shaun kenny dowel hasto be one of the most embarrasing things ive seen. Shenton was great until he injured his ankle. We have nothing to compete with aus outwide.

I agree i could replace Foster with Briscoe as he has been stand-out this season for Hull but i had the Saints youngster in for is goalkicking, if you don't consider Ryan Hall the number one choice winger for England you must be watching a different game to me. Charnley behind Foster, Briscoe and Hall in my book
