| Those that read the RLE may have noticed the new junior side, Northallerton Broncos advertising for players in this week's issue.
I had a good discussion with one of the movers & shakers at the Broncos and they are being supported in their efforts by the Tigers. She was very effusive in her praise for the club.
The Tigers have been working in the North Yorkshire schools and so far have had contact with 550 children through this. The Northallerton Broncos are being given a "club day" on 29th May at the Quins home game.
Great work by the club in looking to attract from outside "our" area.

Goodbye all. It was nice knowing most of you.: |
|
| Top news. This is exactly what should be going on and a big wrap to the club for its work!

| Some solid evidence of how far our potential catchment area expands. Well done to the club.

One of the things that pleased me most is that you could argue it's more Leeds' catchment area but we're not leaving the stone unturned.

| We've got a lot of ground we can tap into. As far East as Hull, as far North as, well....as possible, I guess. South too towards Sheff and Lincolnshire.

| I would say 80-90% of the RL fans and players in the Selby area (which is technically North Yorkshire) follow Cas. I think they still play Union in schools in the area as it is NYCC controlled but the club still make the effort to spread the word in the area with community work, etc.
Keep up the good work!

What utter and factless rubbish, 80% of Selby Warriors support Featherstone and there is often bus trips from the town that go to games, many of the coaches are x Rovers players and featherstone started the junior section up in selby by supplying match balls, sub coats and even bought one of the junior teams a blue and white hooped kit, they also have been doing coaching in the schools for a good while. The Selby and district cup group games are often played at post office road, please check facts before posting

Factless rubbish eh. The lads that play for the Warriors and folow Featherstone do not live in Selby, they live in Eggborough, Kellington and Knottingley and further afield. The bus trips are not from Selby they are organised from Kellington but you do use the Selby Warriors bus for transport. Out of 2 teams there are at the very most 12 of you that follow Fev and that's being generous. 1 person is an ex Rovers player. A couple of games have been played at P.O.R.
So who is talking factless rubbish now then?

Nar then Dale, your all 3 wrong because anyone who trys to get original Selby folk into rugby league are wasting there time, there all rugby union and dont even like league.
As for the Warriors dont forget Andy Shaw played for Fev as does the lad who helps Broardhurst wi U10s, plus Vince Farrah was an ex coach. Hundreds of miners moved from Ponte and Fev in the 80s and its there kids that follow Rovers

This bit's almost written in coherent English, therefore I can respond to say that miners also moved to Selby from Castleford in equal measure - my own family being one group of them.

I'm from Selby, born there in fact, so as original as it gets and I have followed RL all my life. As also is my Dad (who played for Lock lane in the 60's as there was no local league team) and off the top of my head I can think of about half a dozen 'original Selby' friends who have played RL for The Warriors/Raiders, Eggborough Eagles, Sherburn, etc most of whom now have kids that follow the game.

| Registration evening tonight at the Broncos so hopefully loads of kids wanting to sign up and being exposed to Cas. Initial plans were an U12 and U14 side but there's been lots of interest at an U10s level so maybe a rethink.

| That ties in with what i got told at the weekend, our game got cancelled at the weekend. Got told off the oppositon coach that their is a team who hasn't played yet that wants a game. Which confused us as it's the 2nd part of the season. So could this be the team in question.
Good to hear that there is a new club being set up for the juniors, lots of hard work ahead.
