Personally, I quite like this tag - fits in with the whole underdog and united family ethos which has always suited us.

Invariably, "stars" are the Koukash-esque signings more affluent clubs tend to attain.

However, DP has perfectly illustrated this year that astute acquisitions and motivation - whilst nurturing homegrown talent - will always usurp a blank cheque book. Ie: Finn, Channing, Wheeldon, Mariano + Holmes, Massey, Clare et al.

Anyone fancy trading any of these next year for "stars"?

Best of all - most pundits and neutrals deem us as the most exciting team to watch. Ordinarily, with who we've lost and what we had to work with, we had no right to expect anything other than a gritty hardworking unit. Somehow, DP and DO have provided us with guts and glamour.

Can't speak for all our fans, but I don't "hate" Wigan at all. There was some bad feeling for a while when we were relegated partially as a consequence of how your club reacted to adversity, but over the last few years it's been great watching your side and its commitment to youth development.

Also think a lot of bridges were rebuilt at this year's quarter final where your fans showed great dignity.

Now as for Leeds ... Don't get me started!

I've always seen Cas-Wigan as friendly rivalry, and had some good chats with Wigan fans over the years. Flag burning is a stupid thing to do and please don't think that we're all like that. To beat Wigan is always a good feeling for Cas fans, not because of any animosity, it's just you're a big club and have been consistently good for years. Thanks for the good wishes.

The trick with stars in a salary caped sport is to make your own rather than buy them in.

Powell helped make and develop a generation of stars from our academy when he was at Leeds. A lot of your players (Clarke and Huby being the most obvious exceptions I guess?) weren't stars at the start of the year. But they are now. A couple of (as it turns out, very astute) signings in the likes of Finn and Hauraki that I wasn't convinced by at the time have also worked very well for you.
