| Right seen as it's quiet on here at the moment and we must be nearing the time that the RFL decide to impose a new rule for the following season, what would you like it to be?
I would like to see an expansion of the 'Reward Good Kicking'.
At the moment the 40-20 is seen as a good addition but I would like to see a bit of a RU rule pinch.
If a team kicks the ball dead in goal the defending team gets the scrum where the ball was kicked from, I am sick of seeing teams stuck in their half through good defending just leather the ball making it go dead and start their defensive set 20/30 from the opponents line.
Now its your turns.......

| I would like to see a bit of consistency on the tap re-starts after the ball as gone dead in goal, some refs let a tap be made when players arent back but some wont let them tap the ball until all players are back in line, a bit unfair really, i think they should have to wait until all players are back and stick to it.

At the moment it's when all of the team taking the tap are behind the 20m line(onside), or at least that's what it's meant to be. I think some refs let the defence get set more because they aren't ready and in position rather than the defending team.

| I think many excellent rule changes have been introduced over the years, the reduction to 13 players, the reduction of a penalty goal to 2 points, a drop goal to one point, the introduction of subs, the head and feed at a 40/20 (and kick off's), video refs, all of which have been copied by a multitude of other sports.
There are a few more I would like to see, but I'm with you Walton on this one, of course there aren't many things we can learn from the kick and clap brigade but, I agree 100% with that one. Maybe more importantly I would like to see the introduction of video refs for all superleague games. as a result of every game being under the control of a video ref, I would like to see every try be referred to the vidoe ref.
Another one I would like to see, is that if a player gets a ban from the rfl, that ban should (or part of it if possible) be served in fixtures played against the club the crime was perpetrated against.
I/m sure there are many more rules I would like to see, but that will do for the time being.

So if you get a thee match ban you miss the next three games against the same team? The player could have left the club at the end of the season. Or what if it's a cup game vs different league opposition? You might never face them again.

| The onside/offside rule after tonight.
Basically, a player can have any part of his anatomy in front of the kicker as long as his feet are behind the ball.

| After watching the SL GF last night, one rule i would change would be when a player gets held up over the line and they get the play of the ball again, Matt Diskin was held up last night but surely the defence as to be rewarded for holding him up, instead of course Leeds played the ball again and went on to score a little later (the controversial try), instead i think Saints should have been able to have possession.

| Punishment fitting the crime.
At the moment every penalty is awarded with the receiving team being able to kick the ball 20-30 metres downfield whether the penalty was awarded for a technical offence eg incorrect play the ball/voluntary tackle or a player nearly having his head taken off.
Instead the receiving team should just get the set of six from where the offence occured.
I know it would mean classifying offences but just seems unfair that a team gets the same advantage for every penalty decsison.

Agreed! 20m restarts at the moment are a joke! The players dont even know where to take them from half of the time (how about a marker on the 20?). Clear ruling needs to be given as to how the restart should be, and stick to it. If a team restarts incorrectly (a happens most games) then they should be penalised, not given another go!! Laughable and needs adressing IMO.
Also, i think that the play the ball needs looking at. A player either has to play the ball with his foot or he doesnt. At the moment different refs interpretations dictate how the play the ball happens, and it shouldnt be. I would like to see it go back to how it used to be, that a player must play the ball with his foot. If not, penalty!!

Of course Disco, as you say it's not an easy thing to be imposed and as you say could even be impossible, it seems unjust though that the team a player "sins" against, will have to face the same player again later in the season.
I also think that laying on after a tackle is completed should be seriously looked at, the ref having to shout to the players to release the tackled player is a joke, a number of teams seem to take this to the limit and it is ruining the game.

That would just discourage players from trying to force their way over when their close to the line. And yes it's good defence but surely better defence would be stopping the player before he gets over the goal line?

I could not agree more watching the grand final on saturday. I lost count of how many times when the players made a tackle and they were on top of player with ball they were looking at ganson and not moving until he shouted movement. This needs to be sorted out asap.

| Id get rid of the "On Report" rule.
If a player has committed an offence worthy of going on report, he should either automatically get sin binned or sent off with a panel reviewing the dencision anyways...
On report is a cop out for the referee's and im sick of it....

I agree, given that players can be cited after a match anyway without going on report, the whole nature of putting something 'on report' is just a cop out for the officials.
