The players are paid employees of Castleford Tigers and as such are paid to do a job of work just the same as someone working in a factory. If the workers on a production line do not do their jobs properly you don't sack the manager you sack the workers responsible. This is the situation at the moment with the players, some are not doing what they are being paid for, Ian Millward doesn't train them not to tackle or not to go for a 50/50 loose ball or waste possession or simply not to bother trying so he can hardly be held responsible for the last 2 pathetic showings. This has to be the fault of the players on the pitch who have shown a complete lack of respect for the people who are helping to pay their wages, namely us the supporters. Let's wait and see what Millward and Steve Ferres accomplish next season when they are totally responsible for the endeavours on and off the pitch, we are all aware that the club has not been run to the best of it's ability for years so let's get behind the new regime.
Quote: Fully "And a decent squad already built for him
And the full cap to spend'"
The same "decent squad" that spent the full salary cap that finished what, 5th? the year before so Maguire improved the team by 4 league places AND a grand final win, that is instant success.
Your current situation reminds me alot of Wakefield. When Danny Brough left us we struggled to fill the gap and honestly couldn't compete with most sides without a recognised SH. Millward first and foremost needs to conclude whether Rangi Chase is staying or going. Once that's resolved the club can move forward.
It's hard enough competing with the top clubs, but to have your key man and influential player missing makes it impossible. Injuries on top of Ferres & McGoldrink leaving early has put more pressure on younger less experienced players which when out of form is rather hard to cope with.
Get rid of the deadwood or players who don't want to be there and rebuild

The Castleford squad is in for a massive overhaul before the 2013 season and so far the players coming in are an improvement on those leaving and we finally have 2 recognised centres for and first time since 2010! Hopefully next season will see players in their specialist positions rather than having to fill gaps.
Quote: pyeman "2012 - griffin and arundel?
2011 - arundel and Isa?'"
2012 - Wasn't Griffin known more for been a centre
2011 - Wasn't that Arundel's first full season in the 1st team therefore hardly "recognised".
For 2013 we have two International centres and then Lee Gilmour to cover if needed.
