Exactly my point, Millward has done his time in the lower league and now deserves another chance in SL.

| Quote fevbornnbred="fevbornnbred"You make some valid points and in particular the fact that sport is a bad investment option for making money, but you also need to remember that the supporters of any Rugby League Club or whatever field of sport it is,also make a financial investment in the clubs they follow.
Those investments by the supporters week in week out, both financial and physical are the reason that sport survives,so yes the BOD are important but without the fanbase your club is finished.
It is for those reasons that I believe that your fans (any fans) have the right to speculate, question and yes criticise BODs for the actions the carry out on behalf of the the clubs they represent..I don't buy into non accountability on the grounds of finance invested..This game is the peoples game and anyone entering into investment in a club needs to remember that or not bother..'"
No, I completely concur and I don't think they are free from accountability, but the furore and criticism based on SPECULATION and castigating candidates for historical reasons without an objective consideration for what they may be able to do for us now frustrates me.
I am in almost total agreement with most of what you have said, everyone fails, makes mistakes and grows and develops - thank god the people who have employed me over the years are not the posters on this forum, I would still be being turned down for jobs for p155ing the bed when I was 3!

| Agreed about Powell. He is now a very good coach. Same could be said about Harrison. Getting Batley silverware is possibly the geatest achievement in RL this millennium.
I think its a bit harsh to say Dave Woods is failing at York. They were tipped for the wooden spoon by most and he always gives youth a chance. I would rather have a coach that got us into superleague and was never given a chance rather than a loud mouthed buffoon like Millward.

Listen I ve watched his teams this season and we will probably meet them in the grand final and play offs and I know he has put together a very good side in bad circumsatnces this season at Leigh. Ask the Leythers what they think and they will probably say they love him..
Tigerfeet my point is that whoever you get has got to have more in his toolbox than just be a good coach he has got to believe in the club its ambitions, its culture, its history, its core beliefs and be able to work with every section of that club from the CEO to the ballboys/girls,and once again I do not believe IM fits that bill.
Now to tick all those boxes ive set out im guessing the club are going to have to spend big, thats just the way of the market and if a club decide the budget is smaller than the market, you have to compromise on some of the requirments your looking for. I just hope thats not the case for you lot in getting IM.

100% AGREE ..I like Harrison...also lets remember we need to give our British Coaches a chance to develop and grow in the game and if they are good enough lets see some b..ls from BODs and give em a chance for gods sake !....please dont think im knocking overseas coaches there some good ones, but its time we started to look around us, on home soil..
no offence to TM i think he is a good coach

Every club is the same when it comes to speculation I guess, on the whole most supporters are passionate about the clubs they follow and that flows through sometimes into comments that fly wide of the mark I guess, but hey thats the Rugby league community for you.
I prefer to take the positive from the fact that people care enough to "debate, speculate" on issues and therefore means our game will survive for now...the day people stop caring is the day were finished..
Think your paragraph above was spot on for a lot of us

York - Dave Woods - failing at York
Just my opinion mind..'"
Certainly differs from the wise opinion of the club owner who offered Dave a 2 years contract recently, with the club facing the possibility of relegation, but obviously recognising that building from the bottom takes a little time and also that Dave has built the platform to move forward in a very short time span.

| Absolutely astounded at the reaction on here to Millward. He's one of the best coaches in this country, nobody can argue with his record apart from his time at Wigan where he was never given a chance to change the culture of the club, something that he did at Leigh (twice) and Saints and won pots galore. Talk about looking a gift horse in the mouth.

His mouth is a big part of the problem.
