Do any of our posters still doubt the value of the bonus point ? I was one of the one's who was happy when it was brought in, I was of the the thinking if there's a point on offer you might as well take it even if you do lose a game. Obviously, i hope Fax win tomorrow ( and every match for that matter ! ) but if they don't win tomorrow it's 2nd place gone, so early in the season. I do accept that in previous seasons it has been rather worthless in terms of end of season value in the league ladder, but for half a million quid prize money i reckon it's value has grossly increased this season.

It goes without saying i may have worked things out in the above tables/stats incorrectly so apologies if i have.

I hate the bonus point. Don't care what happens to our theoretical league standing without it; It's the principle of it - a reward for losers. It has no place in competitive sport. Just my own conservative opinion of course.

I agree, there should be no place in our sport for picking up a point when losing.

Think there would be an alternative thread in my opinion devaluing the BP if fax werent marooned in a potential mid table scrap and were at the top of the table by a couple of points

Hate it, always have. I hope with the changes to the structure next year it's dead in the water.

I think if you get a point for loosing by 12 or less you should get a bonus point for beating a team by 13 or more points.

In cricket you get a lot of points for losing!

So, i'll ask the question:

If we finish 2nd place or above at the end of this season, you won't acknowledge the value of the BP ? Anyone ?

One system I've always thought worth a try was a bonus point for an aggregate win from the home and away games against a team. This would give a team incentive to pile the points on if winning or keep going if losing. I think it was used in speedway at one time. The Obediah Brooke, Cleckheaton. Saltaire Cascade, 4.8% Mmm!

Looking at it it seems to make little difference to the table but on a game by game basis it may mean you see more entertainment as a losing team should effectively try harder for longer.
