That'd be because they can't see what d1cks BARLA are, the RFL are no better, they won't be happy until they have all rugby league within their sticky mitts.

The impression I've got John is that BARLA and the RFL don't like speaking to each other and scheduled a National Cup game and a league game on the same day. Understandably Siddal wanted to fulfil both fixtures and as they're in the latter stages of the National Cup chose to treat that as their priority, and sent the second team to fulfil their league game. The scoreline reflects badly on Siddal when in reality they were left with the crap hitting the fan because of the RFL and BARLA having a tiff.

| Quote: Piston Broke "I agree entirely with your comments re the Pennine League MM.
I wrote a long letter to their secretary after I saw a game at Queens second team last year recounting several unsavoury incidents that I witnessed on that occasion. I haven't even had the courtesy of a reply.
The Pennine League used to consist of teams from Halifax, Huddersfield, Rochdale and Oldham.
Now it's centre of gravity has moved towards Leeds/Wakefield. No local knowledge exists of these teams and the admin of the League is suspect to say the least. I think I'm right in saying that that when Queens etc moved over 15 months ago that it was the Management Committe who endorsed their membership rather than the clubs?
I think that we should write to BARLA and say that we will start a new league based on the old geographical areas. The problem is that a lot of the Lancashire teams like St Annes, Waterhead and Saddleworth have moved their reserve teams over to the North West Counties League where they get a fair crack of the whip.
And as for the Elland lads playing for Heath 3rds....I counted 5 on the pitch with as many watching who expressed an interest in playing as well.
MOM for me though was a certain Damian Ball........'"
Just take a look at the Pennine league disciplinary charges again in the paper today, almost exclusively non-Pennine clubs again. When you've got 10mins spare, take a look at the abandonement video, YOU know where to find it, Sharlston v Fryston, national cup quarter final last weekend. Fryston down to eight men after their FIFTH sending off !!!!

Fryston are a joke, a real bunch of thugs but like you say can play rugby when they want to! Don't think they will will get in the Pennine league now though as I think they have moved to the summer league. I read somewhere they will be playing in the same league as Siddal 2nds, not sure if thats true though.

| My brother-in-law used to play for Upton, and the games v Fryston were always very heated affairs. I remember one game at Upton where the women supporters were fighting in lumps, and I had to hold my sister back from getting involved as her husband's ex-missus was calling them all names under the sun! The players came to fight and it seemed a competition as to who would be sent off first.

| A decent crowd turned out to watch Elland 18 Ovenden 10 in what was a tight game, very few errors by both teams, a very close & tense match well refereed too, and everyone behaved themselves on this occassion. Nice to see two good local teams at a high standard giving it their all with plenty of young lads filtering through to the open age from their juniors. It made a change for me watching a local match as a neutral, my lads' Greetland lot without a fixture but their 2nds were over at Farnley, I understand Stainland lost against the Irish in the handicap cup semi final & Siddal walloped Saddleworth in the conference premier.

Excellent game between Irish and Stainland. Played in a good spirit and Irish only just made it. Have to say it's a shame that the father of one of Irish's ex professional player every week shows a complete lack of sportsmanship and general ill manners. Also the wife of one of them, calm down dear, it's only a game and your language is not suitable for a public place.

| For those RL enthusiasts wanting their regular sunday "fix" they could do worse than go to Brighouse sports club where the first lot of local junior finals take place:
11am U12's Brighouse Rangers v Greetland AllRounders
12.15 U14's Illingworth v Siddal
1.45 U16's King Cross Park v Siddal

| Just a short good luck message to the Siddal U18's lads who will play away to Rylands this coming sunday 1.30 KO in the National cup semi finals, several of the team have already played with the Fax U23's this season & quite a few more will be in the Fax U18's which I understand commences the following weekend, fixtures are up on the club's website.

Unfortunately both Siddal teams went out of their respective comps at yesterday's semi finals. I went to watch the U18's at Rylands the result 24-12, always behind on the scoreboard & just about second best on the day against a much bigger & slightly more experienced looking side and a very easily swayed ref by a very intimidating home crowd who need to learn some respect. When Siddal scored their first try a section of the home crowd behind the goals erupted in fury accusing a Siddal official who was running the T/J flag
( unofficially ) for the ref of all sorts of expletives & cheating, they then threw a couple of bottles of beer at him. How can a referee be sent to officiate solo without T/J's for such a prestigious & high profile game at a ground which gives a team home advantage and not neutral ground is absolutely beyond me. The guy was even being referred to by his first name by Rylands' players ! Later into the second half when a players brawl erupted close to the touchline poulated by home supporters a glass/plastic glass full of beer was thrown at the players involved by a youth nearby, absolutely disgraceful behaviour. The ref chose to send only a home player off for initiating the brawl, gave a penalty to the home team & they scored from the resulting possession.
All in all, the lads were just beaten on the day but some things just annoy you when there are such drama's.

| Congratulations & very well done to my old club Greetland All-Rounders, I hear their under 12's won the Yorks cup final at Fev today and a Greetland lad got M.O.M.
It brings back memories of my lad winning it as an under 12 with KXP and then a few years later with Siddal under 16's.
For those who aren't just up with how junior RL works, Under 12's is the first age-group that they can compete for silverware, so this 12's age group is a massive achievement for anyone to win such a prestigious trophy & competition.
Long live Greetland All-Rounders.
