Might have been the ‘Referees a w@#&er’ chants, although I have heard much worse in Aus. TBF some of the lack of action on laying on at the tackle, late elbows knees and fists in the tackle and follow up roughing up probably warranted the chants. That type of stuff gets picked up pretty quickly in the NRL to stop it happening but the ref on Sunday seemed to miss it completely. He certainly didn’t bend to the pressure of the crowd, or the assistant refs! Not the reason we lost, but he was pretty average to say the least so maybe he was self indulging icon_wink.gif

Could see this result coming a mile off. Missed Grixy, Muzza tried hard but Johnno went missing again. Johnston really is the weak link for me. Jinky? More like headless chicken!

Very hard to perform in the amount of room available from their defence . I don't think Muzza faired much better than Johnno to be honest, his passing on attack wasn't too clever. Especially to Moss on the right hand side , a pass on the money may have unlocked them but not to be unfortunately . On to the next one now heads up .

difficult for either half back to get a grip on the game when we spilled so much ball and didn't build the pressure or force the repeat sets to maybe get TW creaking a bit. But Grix a big loss for us, you cant underestimate the impact he has on a game both his physicality but also the pivot role he plays freeing space up for the halves.

If you think Johno played well I don’t think you watched the same game as the rest of us. Don’t think he ran at the defence more than a couple of times and kept pushing the same ineffective plays time and again. He came across as very one dimensional once his pet plays didn’t work and didn’t seem to be able to adapt to the fast defence with anything which would worry Toronto. Maybe just a bad day at the office, but if not it shows how limited he is against better teams.

Its probably an indictaion of where we are as a club. Much better than the 6 teams below us but not quite capable of pushing to the next level that might actually see us compete in the middle 8's. The only way we can do that is with some investment and hopefully the extra money this year will be spent on 1 or 2 real quality players that could help us take that next step up. As great as it is making the middle 8's at what point do we just say that is enough? We could end up with a record something like 2/21 by the end of these fixtures. Are we just content with that?

Recruitment will be key-particularly as the funding/8s system will probably change next season, which alters the goalpost to finishing top as opposed to top 4.

Well if the Scott Grix rumour has substance and if Sam wood emulates Simon Grix the future solution may already be in front of us. To be fair the issue with the halves has been rattling around for 4 seasons now under previous management with-action taken but the wrong option taken a few times ie release Thackery and get in the likes of Gaz Moore ( and the batley bloke before him that I can't even remember his name ( H something? ) so he really left an impression ) so it's rather rich to portray it as an emerging issue that has suddenly popped up this year and requires fixing and we need some money to fix it ie nothing to do with me someone else sort it and now . The positive might be its already fixed and sorted but we don't know. I actually felt like WBH would have been a bench option last week because he does have good hands and quick feet.

To be fair we have been spoiled previously with the likes of Ben Black, Graham Holroyd and Luke Branighan. Johnno showed a bit of promise when he first arrived, but hasn’t kicked in for me - and most teams have worked him out now. Is his lack of development down to coaching, lack of desire on his behalf or maybe he hasn’t just got what is needed??

Scott Grix would be the logical option especially if QLT takes up Wakefields offer. Obviously we can't afford Moss but by the sounds of it did make an offer for QLT but I would expect him to stay at a FT club if he can. Even Grix at this stage in his career would be a better option than any other realistic target we have.
