If I remember correctly, we beat Dewsbury at home in the semi's, and we lost to York in the semi's the year earlier.
How times haven't changed, Leeds at home in a cup final HA HA HA !
All of this was around the time when Bamford had the lads gorging on beanz on toast pre-match. I remember Mick Blacker fondly telling us the tale up Greetland years later, mentioning that some big soppy forward or other was too nervous to eat his, so Blacker did the courteous thing and wolved the lot, probably 'cos he didn't have to pay for it

YOU CAN LEARN FROM THE PAST BUT NOT RELIVE IT.YOU CAN HOPE FOR THE FUTURE BUT CAN NEVER BE SURE THERE WILL BE ONE.: |
|
| Just as a matter of interest is it a shared gate at Barrow or does the RFL take some of it or what?

| Our last 'major' final appearance was surely in 1989/90 when we met Wigan in the Regal Trophy final at Headingley. sadly losing 24 - 12?
Nice poster, though.
As already mentioned, there was also the 2nd Division play-off at Old Trafford in 1991, I think, but can that be classed as a major final?
Let's hope that we can add to our list of 'major' finals this year.

No segrigation, but you won't be able to change ends as Sky erect a scaffolding tower in the middle of the popular side and there's no access in front of the Grandstand on the other side.
You can move freely around the terraces but only around the half of the stadium you are in (if you know what I mean).

If the 2nd division play off final isn't to be classed as a major final then then getting to this years Grand Final isn't either seeing as the Grand final is effectively the second division play off final with a different name

| Yes its a shared gate , so the more of you turn up to cheer your side the more money your club gets on the night.
Your fans are being asked to go into the Walney Rd end on the main rd into town oppo the MaccyDs/Pizza Hut etc
The Weathsheaf/Ambrose/Furness are all Rugby Pubs and are just outside the Ground, the Bowater Scott Club is also right outside the ground.
300 yrds away are the Abbey Rd / Dalton Rd pubs, clubs, cafe's &shops etc.

What about Bars in the ground? The Bottle bar and Raiders bar are at the other end than the Walney Rd end aren't they? Will there be a Beer tent at this end for the match or something similar?

As I understand it there will be an extra bar open at the Hindpool (Walney Rd) end of the ground.
