I'll second that.

DR, in my opinion, is never good. It is, and has been from the start, a way for superleague clubs to have an outlet for returning injured players and reserves that need some game time. I believe the RFL had a hidden agenda, trying to set up Australian style feeder clubs.
That said, I am glad that RM used this dual registration to a minimum and as a last resort. Having only a couple of players used and one signing for us has been a success.

| I make no apologies for posting this twice.
Dual reg cut-off 'awful' says Talbot
"I think the system is awful" said Talbot. It is stopping young players from playing and turning young players away from the game."
Is it necessary for success ? Obviously not - even if we lose next week, we'll have the same league points as Fax. Not had a DR player all year.

No it's not necessary. But most clubs are run to budgets/income and don't have the luxury that Sheffield have in that they can attract more income than most with around 200 supporters.

Wise management is what's needed. You can't go to the shop and buy success.

How do Sheffield manage to attract and keep hold of good players on the crowds they get? do you get more from the rfl/benefactor/council sponsorship or where ?

They have a pretty good setup including (teams) behind the first string as well so someone is paying for it all and thus buying it contrary to what Griffe says.
The money has to be coming from somewhere, I agree with him on wise management but without the cash being there won't be much to manage.
I'm sure to improve, the options the Fax management will be looking at is some form of second string to give more strength in depth and a move to full time but all of this takes money as we all know only too well.

I've picked up that Sheffield are being investigated by the RFL. Allegedly spending money on players that was given to them for community development.
Anyone else heard anything?

| That rumour was started by a Batley fan, so i'd be inclined to take it with an entire bag of salt.

Heard the same, dipping in to some community money or something. I heard a director resigned over it but who knows? Have any of their directors left recently? We are still waiting for the 'nailed on' Leigh drug story rumour to come true so it could be one of those also.

Overheard some Eagles fans at Keepmoat saying similar about a Director resigning. Unfortunately missed their thoughts on why!

The reason given that I heard was "unable to keep up with the commitments involved in being a director" but "would still be giving support as able to" or on those lines.

The info I have on Leigh is that a few of their players are being monitored closely after providing "suspicious" samples. They haven't failed but the testers weren't happy with the results.
